There are clubs that offer packages for families and corporate teams. You can avail the one that suits you.

Archery shooting

Let us be honest. Who does not want to show off their bow and arrows! The sheer pleasure of holding the archery equipment is unspeakable. The sport is great for the mild minded people who prefer to stay away from quad bikes and karting. Shoot to your heart's content at the target and 'pierce' the stress bubble for good. You can also few tips on shooting better from experts.

Quad biking

Quad biking in the UK is a favorite for family fun days and stag events. The feel of power that the quad gives you is what makes it irresistible. With no previous experience required at driving these monsters, quad bike is easy to control. The sport is full of adrenaline pumping action on rugged terrains and sandy tracks. This is an excellent group activity. Trainers, in case of any emergency, usually supervise the rides. The clubs usually conduct short training session for beginners.

Clay pigeon shooting

It began with pigeon shooting, then went on to become clay pigeon shooting, and now has become laser clay pigeon shooting! For lack of space, laser detectable bodies shot using laser guns nowadays replace the clay pigeons. However, you can still find the good old clay pigeon too, provided the club has a respectably big ground for clearance.

Clay pigeon shooting is test of aiming and shooting skills. Unlike archery, where you shoot an immobile target, pigeon shooting requires you to shoot moving, or rather flying targets. If you are a first time shooter, it will take some time to get the hang of it. Once done, there is no way to stop you from shooting all the way!

Human Table Football

Ever played the table football and loved it? Well, it is revenge time! Now you are tied to the rods, twist, and turn to play the football. A wacky activity for people of all age. There is total fun and loads of laughter with everybody is sailing in the same boat of enjoyment. This is perfect for a team consisting of older people who have outgrown quad bikes and shooting pigeons. Families should definitely try this. Next time you will at least empathise with your toy footballers on that table football of yours.

Living Rooms - How to Choose the Best Place For the TV

You certainly do not want your HDTV in front a window but you always want to make sure that the sun coming into the window does not cause a glare on the set. However, you can fix that problem by just closing the curtains or drapes.

Now, consider the seating arrangement. You will want everyone in every seat to be able to see the TV perfectly. This may also have quite a bit to do with the HDTV you purchase. Most plasma sets cannot be viewed at an angle, so you will need all the seating in front of the set. On the other hand, you can purchase a LCD and be able to enjoy from any angle.

The distance you place the seats is very important as well with HDTV's. The best way to choose the right size of your HDTV is to take one-third of the screen and that should be the distance for optimal viewing. This means if your seats are only 5 feet from the TV, then you do not want a HDTV screen larger than 15 to 20 inches or the picture quality will not be as good.

According to the design of your living room, you may have more windows to work with or even stairs. All of this can cause you to have trouble with viewing angle especially if you have a plasma HDTV. The best way to know which set will work in your living room is to check out the various sizes, plasma, and LCD with the viewing angles you have in your living room. Once you have the opportunity to stand at different angles and distances, you will be able to choose the best TV as well as the best location in the living room.

Avoid Outdoor Dining Disasters

Eating outdoors can be an incredibly relaxing and pleasant experience. But sometimes things don't seem to go according to plan. Many of us will have experienced disasters, with nice afternoons suddenly transformed into negative experiences.

So how can you go about avoiding such disasters? The best way to deal with these issues is to consider everything well in advance. Think about the type of problems that you are likely to encounter. By considering them at an early stage, you'll put yourself in a great position to avoid them.

One obvious area of concern is likely to be the food. This is something that regularly seems to go wrong when people are cooking outdoors. Ideally, you'll be aiming to create a meal that tastes good and is also relatively easy to prepare. You obviously want to enjoy the food, but it's also important that you have some time to relax.

The important thing to remember here is that disasters are more likely to occur if you attempt to be too ambitious. It's not easy to cook using a barbecue or fire pit. This is worth remembering when you're planning the menu. Try to keep things simple where possible.

Another area of concern will relate to your guests. The best dinner parties are all about being surrounded by great people. If you invite the wrong guests then you could soon be heading for trouble.

How about the weather? This is something that worries many people and can often seem like it's beyond your control. The key here is to come up with some plans that will help you to deal with bad weather conditions. Try to provide a parasol or gazebo if possible. Think about what to do if temperatures drop.

If all else fails, you can always come up with an alternative plan. Your guests will be very understanding, especially if they are good friends. Don't be afraid to move the event indoors if things are going horribly wrong.

Most people want to have a good time. They're much more interested in spending time with you than watching you desperately trying to cook the meal outdoors. Be flexible and make sure that you plan everything properly.

Enjoy Dining Outdoors

Do you love to entertain family and friends? Hosting a great dinner party can be wonderful fun and there's nothing quite like hosting one of these gatherings in the great outdoors. There's something particularly special about outdoor dining.

It helps, of course, if the weather conditions are absolutely perfect for hosting an event of this nature. But a little bit of preparation can help to ensure that your guests are delighted by your party. So let's take a look at how you can make the most of an outdoor dining experience.

There are some elements that are required in order to make things a success. These should certainly include great company, fantastic food and plenty to drink. Having somewhere to sit is an added bonus!

Eating outdoors seems to bring out that holiday feeling. It helps to ensure that everyone is perfectly relaxed. Make sure that you're in the same frame of mind if you're hosting the occasion. Try to plan what you will be cooking a few days in advance. That way, you won't find that you're left in a last minute panic.

It's also particularly good if you can also get your garden or yard into a suitable state in advance too. You'll find that everyone is really able to make the most of the outdoor dining experience if your garden is welcoming, allowing all of your guests to sit down and eat a meal in beautiful surroundings.

The very best garden parties tend to go on for hours. Try to think about how you'll be keeping your guests entertained throughout. You'll find that simple ideas often work best of all. If you aim to make sure that everyone has plenty to eat and drink then that's a great starting point.

Create A Great Outdoor Dining Experience

Why is it that eating outdoors always seems like so much more fun? There are various theories about why this should be the case, but one thing that most people agree on is the fact that there's something very special about eating in the open air.

Some people suggest that it's extra special because you feel that you're closer to nature. As a result, it's suggested that you are closer to the raw ingredients that will so often form part of the meal. For other people, it's all about being able to experience a warm, sunny day.

Many of us are instantly reminded of holidays when we think about the possibility of outdoor dining. There can be no doubt that it's easy to think back to occasions spent eating in Mediterranean locations. So what's the secret behind creating a really impressive outdoor dining occasion?

Strangely, it's often suggested that the food is not necessarily the most important element. This may seem like a very unusual suggestion. After all, you would imagine that cuisine would be at the very heart of something that seems to be all about eating.

But the reality is that the best experiences are all about the people that you share them with. That's also true in this case. When you're thinking about hosting an event, think carefully about the people who you are intending on inviting. Getting the right mix will be vital.

Ensure that you invite people who you really enjoy spending time with. If you get this element right then it's very hard for the event to turn out badly.

Preparation is also really important. Consider the setting and how to make things welcoming. You'll probably want to spend an hour or two getting your garden into shape. There's no harm in showing your guests that you've made a real effort.

Combine Your Christmas Party Planning With Your Christmas To-Do List and Start a Tradition

Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is just around the corner. There's nothing like a festive holiday party to get into the Christmas spirit. But frankly, you're finding it hard to regroup and launch into Christmas party planning so soon.

There are so many things to do just to get ready for the holidays! The house and the Christmas tree need decorations and gift shopping and wrapping are on your list to do. There are Christmas cookies to bake, cards to send, and visits to the senior center to share your Christmas cheer with some who don't have family nearby. Who has time for Christmas party planning?

If you're thinking about the party you promised yourself you'd have this year, but like last year you're hesitating, consider turning your Christmas "chores" into a new Christmas tradition. Combine forces with your guests and turn chores into celebrations. Choose one chore this year and another one next year to start the tradition.

Here are some Christmas party planning suggestions... some are tried and true and others may be new:

Christmas Tree Trimming Parties- make a pact with 3-4 friends to help decorate each others' trees. One gathering can be a brunch, one can be an afternoon tea, one a cocktail party, and one a dinner. You could challenge yourself and try to do it all in one day (not recommended for the faint of heart or decorating.) I would suggest spreading it out over a few days and enjoy your friendship while decorating. Include other friends in the celebrations too. Many people don't put up a tree and would enjoy the fun of helping you.

Christmas Cookie Baking and recipe exchange- ask several friends who are great bakers to bring a double batch of their best Christmas cookie dough and plan to have a Cheese Garlic and Bacon Grits casserole and fresh fruit brunch while you bake off the dough and share the fresh baked cookies with each other. If you choose a day when there is a great movie, sporting event on TV, or just a good game of poker to start, you can include friends who don't want to bake in the guest list too.

Christmas centerpiece or tree ornament making party- order some fresh evergreens and gather lots of ornament making supplies. Ask your guests to raid their decoration making supplies and to bring a favorite container so they can take their centerpiece home. Let your guests get creative while you nourish them with tasty cheese, crackers, dried fruits, nuts, and a special wine or punch.

Christmas letter writing party- Christmas letters are controversial. Some love them and can't wait to hear the news of the year from family and friends. Others toss them in the trash trying to avoid the bragging or the misery they bring. What better way is there to prepare a great annual missive than to have your friends give you editorial advice before you send it off? Have everyone bring their laptop computers and draft their letter at your Christmas party. Read them out loud and critique. Let each other know if your letters are too sad, too bragging, too boring, or just right. Help each other add a little humor to your letters and enjoy some tasty hors d'oeurves in the process.

Here are a few other "chores" that have the potential to be a new Christmas party planning tradition.

Christmas gift wrapping party
Christmas dinner side dish recipe exchange -- make big batches of your favorite side dishes and share or just exchange the recipes
Pre - Christmas Eve church service dinner-make this a potluck to spread the work around
Senior center or retirement home visiting and caroling party-share your Christmas joy with those who most need and deserve it.

Just take a look at your Christmas to-do list and see what you can turn into a new Christmas party planning tradition. I think you'll be surprised and your friends will too.

Here are a couple of recipes that are easy, tried, and true that you might want to serve up too.

Easy Turtle Candies

1 bag Rolo candies
1 bag Snyder's of Hanover square shaped butter pretzels
1 bag of pecans halves, toasted

Preheat oven to 375 F. degrees.

Unwrap Rolo candies and set aside for later.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Place the pretzels on the parchment paper in rows.
Place a Rolo candy on each pretzel.
Place in oven to soften Rolos, approximately 5 minutes. Check occasionally, don't let them melt.
Take the candies out of oven.
Push a toasted pecan half on top of each Rolo
Set in a cool area to harden.

Shrimp and Bacon Appetizers-- Makes about 50-60 appetizers

2 lbs. cleaned, peeled, and deveined, tail off, 26/30 raw shrimp
1 ½ lbs. sliced bacon
¾ cup real mayonnaise
¼ - 1/3 cup Dijon-style mustard
50 - 60 bamboo style toothpicks

Par-cook the bacon in the oven to remove some of the fat. Do this at 400 degrees for about 6-8 minutes. (Watch it however) The bacon will look wrinkled and still raw. Cut each piece of bacon into diagonal lengths that are long enough to wrap around a shrimp and be secured with a toothpick.
Wrap each shrimp with a strip of bacon and secure both ends of the bacon with a toothpick.
Combine the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard and mix thoroughly.
Place the wrapped shrimp in a flat container and pour the mayonnaise/mustard mixture over each one. Let marinate for about 1 hour.
Place the shrimp on a baking sheet and broil until the bacon is fully cooked. (8-12 minutes) Serve immediately. You may need to turn each shrimp during cooking if the shrimp are large of the bacon is thickly cut.

Garlic Cheese Bacon Grits

1 ½ cups uncooked grits - these are regular, not instant grits
5 cups water
1 tsp. salt
¾ cup butter or margarine
8 oz. jar or package of processed cheese spread
¼ tsp. garlic powder (optional)
1 cup milk
5 eggs, beaten
8-10 slices crisp cooked bacon, crumbled
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Pre-heat oven to 375 F. degrees

Stir the grits and salt into boiling water and cook, stirring frequently, until thick.
Add butter, cheese spread, and garlic to the grits and stir until melted.
Mix milk and eggs; add small amount of hot grits and stir into eggs to keep them from curdling when you combine them with the hot grits.
Add warm egg mixture to grits and stir all together until well blended.
Stir in crumbled bacon.
Pour into greased 13X9X2 baking dish.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
Bake at 375 for 40 minutes.

Turning your Christmas to-do-list into a Christmas party saves time and money. It also makes Christmas an even more important time of sharing and caring.

Getting Your Own Set of Antique Pedal Cars

Finally, there is already a toy that can be enjoyed both by parents and kids. These are the antique pedal cars that resemble so much some of the classic car models that many people adore. If you are a kind of person who always fancies having his own collection of these kinds of cars but do not make enough to do so, then the toy version of these cars would do.

It is actually very practical to have these cars as it could be the source of enjoyment not just for grown-ups who love cars but also for those cute kids who fancy role-playing as grown-ups driving their own chic ride.

Most collectors who could afford buying the real deal do not really drive the classic cars that they buy. They just display these cars for the entire world to see. Of course, this is very understandable considering how expensive these cars are. They are surely not meant to be driven around as they are very prone to unforeseen accidents. Now, if these cars are just meant to be displayed, just for the eyes to consume, then versions of these cars as antique toy pedal cars would already suffice. This means that even if you do not have much money, you can still have your own collection of these classic cars that you could boast to your friends.

Furthermore, having your own antique pedal car can also be a very good treat for your kid. Growing up we all dream of being able to drive around in our own car. However, we are still too young to do so. With these pedal toy cars, children could already realize this dream. Thus, aside from displaying your pedal car replicas, you could also let your kid enjoy using them for a while with the promise that he would take good care of it. In this way, it is like training your kid to be responsible in using the cars that you let him use.

A Brief History of Why We Celebrate Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night Events are held across the whole of the UK as a celebration on November 5th. The night's event celebrates the failure of the Gunpowder plot of 5 November 1605. This was when a number of conspirators including a man called Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the houses of parliament in London. It was originally compulsory to celebrate the King being saved from the plot and this celebration under the Thanksgiving Plot was compulsory until as late as 1859

There is a children's nursery rhyme about it:

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*)
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Usually only the first 5 lines are used.

The bonfires are held often with a "guy" on top to represent Guy Fawkes. This is usually a scarecrow type figure dressed in old clothes and stuffed with straw. He is burnt atop the bonfire to celebrate the failure of the plot.

The fireworks are used to symbolise the gun powder used in the attempt as many barrels of it were placed in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament.

Although mainly celebrated in the UK it's often celebrated in other British Colonies and the tradition is now more about exciting fireworks displays than any remembrance of the act of treason.

Bonfires are held at the weekend nearest bonfire night, although in some areas there may be several and organisers spread them out through the weekend to ensure people can attend more than one bonfire over that weekend.

In the past there would be "Penny for the guy" collections held to raise money to buy fireworks but this tradition seems to have been phased out and children now prefer to Trick or treating instead for sweets. In Penny for the Guy, a guy would be made and pushed round the streets with children knocking on doors for money. The guy would then be put on top of the local bonfire and burnt.

Some people prefer attending organised celebrations rather than holding their own bonfires in their gardens. However the family bonfire can still be fun and is easy to organise with a few neighbours to make it special.

The Fire Service offer advice about building a bonfire. Having it at a safe distance away from the house, any overhanging trees and other buildings is a very important step. If you don't have a big garden then having a bonfire is probably not a good idea. Collect wood and if possible keep it dry until Bonfire night. Ensure there are no pets or hedgehogs in the bonfire before lighting it. Do not use petrol or other flammable liquids to light it. Use dry newspaper scrunched up inside the middle. If you have piled the wood up in a cone shape then once it catches light it will burn well with wood falling to the middle. Don't build a bonfire too tall either. If you can't reach the top of it to add more wood, then add the wood around the sides.

Get everyone to keep back from it. Have fireworks in a tin and kept away from the fire. Have one person responsible for them and ensure they have read all the instructions in advance as well as reading the fireworks code leaflet that comes with them. Set them off well away from people and aim them away from spectators. If in doubt about whether a firework has failed to go off, stay away from it. Do not pick up fireworks once they have been lit.

Hot treats like baked potatoes can be done on a bonfire if it is small enough to get them out of safely, or better still, cooked indoors and bought outside. Hot drinks are good too as the weather is invariably cold by the start of November. If you follow the basic guidelines and wrap up warm you can have a great bonfire at home.

The Canopy Gazebo and Patio Heater Partnership!

What most people do not realise about canopy gazebos is that they protect us from the rays of the sun and also shield us from precipitation as well as dry autumnal leaves. They are a great answer to your shade requirement for your patio, lawns, backyard or poolside. While many opt for low grade and low price canopy gazebos there are many that are now looking for more quality as they realise that there is great value and quality for money available. One can buy a top of the range portable product starting at about $180 depending on the size or grade.

If you wish to increase the style and elegance of your outdoor area go for one of these canopies. These can form the main item of focus between your other outdoor furniture pieces and become a great garden centre piece. See that your new canopy gazebo is coordinated with the colour scheme and lay out of your patio. Also, take care that what you are buying comes with an adequate anchoring system so as not to be blown away by stronger winds. There are a number of different anchoring systems for canopy gazebos but if you purchase a quality product generally they come with quality anchoring. Extra anchoring can be added such as weighted bags if necessary.

These products can also withstand other harsh environmental conditions because of the material used and how they are designed. Many of them have a peaked top so as rain runs off smoothly and effectively. Also the canopy skins are made to be water resistant so you can remain comfortable and dry in the less desirable conditions. On the other hand when outdoors in hot and sunny weather conditions a portable canopy can give you 99% UV ray protection and a 25% and upward cooler temperature to enjoy while fitted with peak vents for better air circulation. With some minor care i.e. a wipe down and a drying, a good quality product can last long into the future and be enjoyed time and time again.

Sunny summers make it easy to enjoy outdoor leisure under a canopy gazebo but the chilly winters herald the need for some extra help. This is where patio heaters come in. The patio heater can completely transform a cool wintry evening into a pleasantly warm one. If you wish that the summer had never gone and still want to make use of your outdoor spaces for an longer period, this is the a fantastic way to do it. Generally a patio heater can supply heat in a 10-15 foot squared area and increase the temperature by about 15 degrees. Used in both domestic and commercial situations patio heaters have a wide range of use when accompanying your canopy gazebo.

For the domestic canopy owners in cooler conditions, lawns, backyards and decks can be warmed by patio heaters. In a commercial setting where these products are used patio heaters are very effective in such settings as open air restaurants, pubs, markets, trade fairs and many more. Patio heaters may utilize electricity or gas as fuels. Electric patio heaters heat by radiation. They have the added advantage of staying consistent in gusty evenings. However, one issue with them is that they do add to the electricity bill. Obviously the bigger the electric heater the bigger the bill. So make sure you consider your options when thinking of purchasing one to accompany your canopy.

Gas patio heaters on the other hand as suggested utilize propane gas to give heat. Gas patio heaters have greater ease of transport than their electricity fuelled counter parts. While electric heaters can effectively warm smaller areas of 10-25 feet squared gas heaters can be utilized in areas of greater size. Natural gas may also be used as fuel in gas patio heaters. Propane as well as natural gas are quite cheap and hence used frequently.

Instead of spending the money, you can opt to make your own. You will need some very pretty seashells which can be ordered in bulk online and you will also need a hot glue gun and some very small single pronged hair clips in a silver color.

Use the hot glue gun to affix your hair clip to either the top of your seashell or hidden on the side. You just need to play around with the clip to properly fit it without looking awkward. Just make sure you can slip in a place card so it is visible when people pass by to find their seats.

As an extra option, you could get some glue and use it to cover the hair clip with sparkles to hide it or give it some extra decoration. You might even want to glue on some very thin ribbons onto your clip as another option to hide it from view.

Shell Shaped Cookies

If you or someone you know just loves to bake you can attempt to make some sea themed cookies as party favors. Everyone loves a good cookie and this is the perfect chance to create a beach inspired gift for guests. Invest in a few sea themed cookie cutters and get some sugar cookie mixes and start baking. You can turn your baking event into a little party as well, especially if this is for a wedding

3 Of The Best Free Entertainment Ideas That People Would Gladly Pay For

With the economy forcing people to tighten their wallets, there is a need to keep people entertained without breaking their bank. I'll quickly reveal 3 of the best free entertainment ideas that people would gladly pay for.

1. Computer Lovers:

If you've gotten a hold of some cool software program you know that learning all of its cool features can be fun...and time consuming. It's a perfect way to pass time and entertain yourself for days on end. Well, a website has partnered up with developers and showcases one licensed software everyday ( available for a 24 hour period) for its visitors. It can be downloaded for FREE. Site will be revealed at the end of this article.

2. Movie Lovers:

Assuming you are viewing this on YOUR computer, you never have to pay for a movie ticket again (legally). Get your popcorn ready because all you have to do is go to a site, find a movie, and watch it on your computer for FREE. Advertisements make this possible. You'll have a few commercial interruptions, but that's when you refill your popcorn and take a bathroom break. This site is primarily for U.S. viewers. See end of article for website.

3. Outdoor Lovers:

If you're a golfer, you know that to play on a course you have to pay what is known as a green fee. This can run anywhere in the teens to over a hundred dollars, not to mention the cost of equipment.

Well, what has become really popular is something called Frisbee golf, or disc golf. The best part about disc golf is the "green fees" are free at most courses. If there is a charge, it's minimal. Check your local area for Frisbee Golf courses.

There are special discs made that are heavier than your typical Frisbee and fly further, but you still can play the game with Frisbees lying around your house. In fact, all you need is a big park and you can create your own course. Just select a tree or pole as a target and declare whether it is a par 3, 4, or, if you're at a really big park, a par 5. You can make the course simple or complex by creating your own out-of-bounds, water hazards, etc.

Family Fun Days Out on a Budget

The other Sunday I was talking about Family Fun on a Budget and I was talking about things that we do as a family on the cheap to make everyday a fun day. It got me thinking though because even when we go out as a family I still try and make it as cheap as possible and today I thought I would share some of my secrets with you.

Most of our days out involve us going somewhere in our car. I love our car, we have a Citroen Xsara Picasso and I have to say that I think it is fab as a family car (although my next car will without a doubt be a Toyota Prius) because of the great storage it offers. When we go on a long journey we always check the tyre pressure, the water and oil levels and make sure that we have petrol. We empty the car of anything that we won't need and normally give it a quick wash and use the Dyson on the inside. As I am sure you know these simple steps help improve the fuel efficiency and also means that the mouldy pears are taken care of!

The great storage in our car means that we have space (in the floor) to store snacks and drinks for the journeys we make. I put family and car friendly snacks such as cartoons of juice and crisps and raisins (and the odd biscuit) into the car before we set off, so that if we need to snack whilst we are on the move we don't need to stop at the services that we past. I also keep mints in the front of the car for Daddy and I

If we are going out for the entire day, I make sure that we take snacks, drinks and if possible Lunch and a light Supper. I am always shocked, although I don't know why, at the price of drinks and snacks at theme parks or anywhere that isn't my local shop. I have a large cool bag, which will hold enough sandwiches, fruit, yogurts (I freeze tube yogurts and use them as cool packs) drinks, biscuits, crisps and cakes for the four of us more than twice over. The pack can stay in the car if we are at an attraction that lets us return to our car during the day, and if not it can either go on/in the buggy or we adults take turns in carrying it.

I love the Internet (as you probably already know) and as such will search for vouchers for days out, two for one, half price days or anything else that will save me on admission price. You can also use your Tesco Clubcard points to convert to tickets for certain theme parks and days out, so this is like free days out! I am signed up with local tourist boards to get emails about upcoming attractions so that if there is a discount for booking early I can take advantage of this. I couldn't even make a guess at how much this has saved me in the past, but I am sure that it is worth the time and effort.

Daddy always scopes out parking for where we are going, and checks that it isn't cheaper to park in a local NCP car park rather than the car park at the event we are going to. His favourite was when we went to the O2, parking at a local NCP car park cost £10 and then there was a further £5 fee for our trip on the Docklands Light Railway to the O2 arena but parking at the O2 would of cost £20. I know its only a saving of £5 but that £5 brought us our programme for the evening and meant that we spent some more time together having an adventure!

Themes and Schemes for Kids Parties

You need to decide on a theme when planning a party for a child. And of course, not just any old theme will do, it must be something of interest to that child. Try to think beyond what you want, and discover what your child wants. The key is to know your child's favorite things.

Finding the right theme is as simple as watching your child and his friends play everyday. Listen to their conversation and you will quickly discover your child's favorite action figure and super heroes. If media figures don't appeal, then think about their favorite toys and activities.

If you are having trouble finding a theme, perhaps you should browse a party supply store and take your child along. If he/she goes bonkers over a Barbie or Superman, then you have found yourself a theme. It could be fun to suggest that the children you invite come dressed in line with your theme.

An easy and sure way of simplifying your party planning, is to utilize the services offered at many public facilities. Some of the fast food restaurants, miniature golf courses, bowling centers, game rooms, offer complete packages for parties at a flat rate. Sometimes they will even provide the birthday cake.

Creating Atmosphere Using Five Basic Senses

Think about it, the success of a party is much more than food and drinks that you serve. It's the atmosphere and ambiance you create, with a warm welcome and soothing lights, enticing aromas, and great conversations. The right combination of these elements will have your guest talking about your party for years to come.

The good news is that anyone can give a dazzling party. You don't have to spend a fortune, you can live in a two bedroom apartment or a penthouse, you still have the same tools available (at no cost) to make your party unforgettable. All that's required is your imagination and your guests' five senses.

That concept may sound scary, but don't worry, your guests' senses become involved without any help from you. It happens naturally without any planning, but with a tiny bit of extra thought, you can make a good party better, or a great party absolutely sensational, just by ensuring the you have enthralled each sense of every guest.

Just because you may be serving imported smoked salmon, and pouring expensive liquor does not mean your party will be a success. A few flowers alone, will not make an "atmosphere". It's the mind and imagination of the host, that creates the atmosphere. The beginning of human knowledge is through the senses. Everyone interprets life through what they see, hear, smell, taste and feel. So when planning your party, think about how you can involve the guests' senses easily, directly and purposefully.

From the very beginning, reach out with a warm hug or handshake to appeal to your guests' sense of touch. Choose food that will provide a pleasant aroma, to entice their sense of smell. The right choice of music and decorations, will appeal to their hearing and sight. And certainly, last but not least, plan your menu so that your guest will find their taste buds begging for more.

Spending Family Time During Weekend

Often we feel that we need a weekend to ourselves away from office, away from family and just be by ourselves and do nothing but sleep. We look forward to closing the door of our bedroom and being there by ourselves. Can this wish come true?

As any child, he will want to watch his favorite TV show or movie on the TV with popcorn in hand with the remote, lying down on the sofa in the living room.

Kitchen work too might occupy the time at times if you have a huge family to feed and this is what many people feel they do most of the times.

If you do not believe how much of time it takes you in the kitchen, just look at your day. You start with breakfast preparation, go on to make lunch, snacks in the evening and then a full course dinner.

Dinner normally gets to be a very light meal many times. You rustle up and put together left over or ask each one to fix up something for themselves unless you have something special to celebrate where the whole family sits down for a proper dinner at the table.

Many people feel happy and satisfied with what they have. They also have the knack of setting up all things in a neat layout and build a nice atmosphere that brings people into the kitchen. While some one else may wish for a more spacious kitchen and modern gadgets depending upon their ideas and desires.

Remodeling your kitchen may give it a new look and you might enjoy the new ambience. Depending upon your mental picture of how you want your kitchen to look you can create a new design matching that.

Fall Wedding Ideas

Fall is a time of lovely colors and the bounty of the harvest. You can bring these things into your wedding decor and set a tone of warmth and welcoming. Your guests will be enthralled with the decorations when you use nature's own earth tones.

Pumpkins

There are so many things you can do to add gorgeous pumpkins to your wedding decor. You can start with a trailer filled with hay and pumpkins parked outside your reception hall. Line the walkway into the church or reception with carved out pumpkins lit with votive candles. The shapes can be anything from bells to doves to hearts. Enlist the help of friends and family to carve small sugar pumpkins of relatively the same size so that the walkway will look uniform.

Pumpkins can also be used as centerpieces inside the wedding reception. One large pumpkin per table, either carved and candle lit or whole, will look stunning. Surround it with silk or real leaves in varying colors and sizes. Add acorns and other fall nuts like hazelnuts. You can also carve off the top of the pumpkin and fill each one with flowers-real or silk. Just be sure to include some sort of container to hold the water inside the pumpkin if you are using real flowers. Give each guest a tiny pumpkin to take home as a favor. While you don't want to go overboard with the pumpkin theme, you can make an elegant and festive decor with nicely placed pumpkins.

Apples

Much like the pumpkin, apples are one of the symbols of harvest. You can bring in cornucopia baskets or apple picking buckets and fill them with a rainbow of fall apples. Place them as centerpieces. Offer caramel apples as favors. Hollow out apples with a votive cutter and place votive candles in an apple at each place setting. Apple scented candles will make the reception smell like mom's fresh baked pie. Place an array of apples around a hurricane vase with a tall pillar candle in it. Tie cinnamon sticks to cloth napkins with jute twine to carry through the theme. Serve apple cider from a punch bowl.

Maple

You can do a lot with additions of maple shapes into your fall wedding decor. Scatter fresh or silk maple leaves imprinted with your names and date at each table. Have maple-shaped place cards or place card holders. Offer maple shaped cookies and cookie cutters as favors. Or, have leaf-shaped bottles of maple syrup as favors. Handmade maple candies as favors are also a lovely idea. You can even float maple shaped candles in low bowls of water with acorns at the bottom.

The Site

If you have access to a cider mill, an apple orchard or a barn, you might want to stage your wedding there. You can drape yards of cream colored fabric at the entrance and on the walls to give an outdoor building a cozy feel. Set rustic wooden tables with twig-themed serving wear and pottery bowls and dishes. Use jelly jars for drinks. Have branches with berries in big urns to greet guests. Offer hot cider and rustic props like baskets and old tools. Have dried wheat stalks in bunches and wreaths made of nuts or twigs to add to the ambiance. Bushels of apples and pumpkins can be spread around in clusters. Your photos will look lovely taken in front of your site. Give guests pumpkin or apple scented candles to take home as favors. Invite casual attire so guests can feel comfortable in an outdoor setting.

The Cake

Instead of a stark white cake, carry the fall theme over by adding acorns, nuts, autumn colored roses and deep colored calla lilies to the cake. Place the cake on a rustic pedestal made of metal or wood. Have your baker spin brown sugar around the cake for a warm candied feel that looks like it's wrapped in fall. Offer take-home cupcakes with frosting in shades of autumn. Cupcake boxes in browns or oranges will allow your cupcakes to travel well.

Entertaining Family and Friends on a Tight Budget, Time and Temper

Let's face it. No matter how reclusive you think you are, you will have to entertain family and friends who come over to visit. In accordance with good manners and right conduct as expected of a civilized recluse, you have to entertain your visitors.

But don't get your panties all in a bunch over it. There are ways to make almost everybody happy with your hostess skills without placing too much pressure on your pockets, time and temper. Here then are the simplest and yet most effective tips to achieve such a goal and, yes, it applies even when you love entertaining as much as the recluse shuns it.

Set a Time

If you live a busy lifestyle, your family and friends will understand when one of your conditions for entertaining them in your home is that they should call in advance. At the very least, you will be prepared with even the most basic food like wine and cheese or pizza and soda for when they do come over. You may not have so much food in the fridge or the pantry because you eat out most of the time.

Or even if you are a certified chef of the family, it is still a nice gesture on their part to tell you about their plans. After all, you want to enjoy the food and the company instead of slaving away on the stove while your friends laugh away.

You can also tell your guests about your time limits. Say something about getting your beauty sleep or respecting the neighbors, either of which reason is understandable.

Go for Simple, Easy-to-Prepare Foods

Nobody said that you have to hire a catering company or prepare an elaborate menu for every time you have to entertain family and friends, even the boss from the office. Often, the simplest of foods to prepare is the most desirable one for everybody since the tastes are so familiar. You can add pizzazz by placing a few special touches like mozzarella instead of cheddar cheese.

Or better yet, you can always order simple takeout food from the neighborhood restaurant. All you do is transfer the contents to dinnerware, set the table and place candles as centerpieces and you become the Martha Stewart of instant entertainment. Just make sure that the food is something that your guests will like to eat.

Try Potluck

If your family and friends are hell-bent on visiting, you can always tell them - graciously, of course - that potluck is the order of the day. You may assign each one with a specific food to bring as hostess' gift and then use them as the instant menu. You may also let one of your guests do the planning.

Of course, you have to prepare one or two foods on your own. Still, it is definitely not as troublesome as preparing the menu all by your lonesome self. You can even have fun cleaning up afterwards with your guests, which should be easy considering that the food containers may be disposable.

Truly, there is nothing to be afraid of having company for dinner. Smile, lead them into the living room, search through your fridge and pantry, call the neighborhood restaurant and order takeout, set the table and talk about anything and everything under the sun.

Different Ideas For Your Catering Needs

There are different ways in setting up a catering service for your special events. Special events have different needs and there is an array of considerations that would ultimately dictate your food menu and food choices for the said events. For instance a small party of several people might find it appropriate to be served a simple sit-down dinner. A larger group, meanwhile, might require a more lavish buffet dinner to satisfy their gastronomical desires.

Outdoor catering may include a barbecue set-up or a luau atmosphere as these are appropriate preparations for parties done outside of buildings and homes. Buffet dinner preparations can work for different group sizes and the choice of dishes can vary depending on the customer's preferences.

Among the many different catering preparations, appetizers may be one of the simplest and easiest to prepare. It is very appropriate for your party catering. Appetizers may be simple and cheap, or it can be more extravagant and expensive. Fruit servings are popular appetizers and various fruits, especially those in season, can be served like melon, watermelon, pineapple, orange, grapes or apple, and these are served in small portions and slices.

Appetizers could also include serving different biscuits and crackers with cheese slices from the different varieties of cheeses. It could also be dinner rolls filled with egg salad, chicken salad, tuna, ham and cheese, or even turkey, which could satisfy the guests entirely. Different pastries and bread products could complete your appetizer entrée.

Party catering is never complete without the main courses. For high class events and formal dining affairs, the sit down meal is usually the norm. The sit down meal features a prepared set which includes the appetizer, the soup, the salad, the main course and the dessert. The main course usually offers a choice of meats, such as beef, chicken or pork, or even a fish selection. The desserts are usually a sweet selection of cakes, pies, and fruits. Another term for this selection is the full meal option.

Especially London Catering to larger numbers of guests, the buffet meal is an ideal option to give your guests a variety of dishes and full meal courses. The buffet dinner could range from the smaller 3 or 4-course meal, or the grander 10-course buffet option. An Italian buffet, for instance, could include pasta selections, while a Mexican buffet could include a "do-it-yourself" taco fixings station and the usual meats and vegetable dishes. The buffet catering could also include a salad bar with a selection of delectable vegetable, fruit and meat toppings meant to satisfy the taste buds of the guests.

Barbecue set-ups can be enjoyable for a lot of people. A selection of beef or pork briskets and ribs can be prepared in slow-cooking grillers while hotdogs and hamburgers may be served on the side and prepared immediately before the event. Large servings of baked beans, coleslaw or mashed potato can add zest to the barbecue catering preparations.

Family Fun Help and Ideas For All Ages

Do you have the life you wanted when you were younger? Most of us will say no. I know I did. I have found that many people go through life, but never live life the way they want to.

One thing I did find out that someone told me, is something called "The Secret". It has a lot of meaning and ways to look at things, but it mainly talks about attraction. Everything in your life up until now is in your life because you brought it there. That bad day at work, or that bad day driving to the beach. Whenever you think that your day, or some event in your life, is going to be bad, it will. However, if you wake up everyday and think very hard that this day is going to be a great day, more often than not, it will. We all have it within ourselves to keep that bad day going, or to change it.

One thing I found is that if I am having a bad day, or moment, all I have to do to change it is to change my way of thinking. Sing a song, cheer for someone, listen to music, anything to change your current state. Even something as small as taking a different way home, or going for a walk after work. Even playing a new game with the kids. Just find something.

After you try all of those simple things, you will most likely find that you are on a better path in life than you were on. Then you will also find out that the people around you are in a much better place as well. Bad feelings, as well as good ones, can spread far and wide, across many people and places. keep in mind, the only person who can change your life is you.

The Charm of Personalized Playing Cards

Everyone knows how a playing card looks like, but not everybody knows what is behind a set of cards. In fact, do you know what exactly a playing card is? Dictionary defines it as a piece of thin cardboard, heavy paper or plastic with a series of motifs in the obverse and generic printings in the reverse that serves for playing card games. However there are personalized playing cards that may have both sides designed with a theme or according the user's preference.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s there were cards portraying pinups in the reverse of each card. Today you can order your own personalized photo playing cards and have fun with your friends. Creating your custom cards is easier nowadays than ever because you can order online and play with their virtual tools to see the result before ordering. One set may have a single photo printed on each card or you can select different ones, although this option depends on the chosen service.

There are cheap playing cards that you can give away to promote your business or as a present in special occasions, such as the personalized cards wedding favors. Most companies have the infrastructure to print any sort of personal cards and packaging every set in accordance with your specifications and requirements. Playing cards cannot only be customized in the reverse but have any printing in the obverse including tarot cards, magic trick cards, Anglo-American cards, or special card decks.

If you are in need of promotional items, you can find printing services that offer both personalized card decks and custom boards. You would probably have seen some of these board games, as in example those which are given when your order a burger in a chain restaurant. Personalized theme cards are another good choice when it comes to wedding showers, corporate events and even as a special birthday souvenir.

Custom card sets are also a good chance to put your creativity into practice. Some online services offer you catalogs with a large variety of pictograms, some of which are replicas of historic card games. As a unique gift, you can also select deck of trading cards, like those portraying comic characters or sportsmen pics; just add your own photo or theme on the reverse of each of them using the on-site designing software. No matter what your idea is, give a try at ordering personalized cards with photos today!

Chill Out At Home On A Brand New Recliner Sofa

At the end of a hard day at work, we rely on our sofas to provide us with the comfort that we need in order to be refreshed and ready to go again the next day. But, sometimes we do not have the room available to stretch our legs out if there are a number of people sharing it with us and there is nothing better than lying down on your sofas with a cool drink in front of your favourite TV shows.

Better instead to have a look into recliner sofas as an alternative to make that individual sofa experience that little bit more special. A recliner sofa gives you the opportunity to put your feet up while seated just by pulling a lever. This mechanism comes in leather, fabric and corner sofas variations so you have no excuse to try this different type of furniture.

The great thing about having it installed with a corner sofa is that you can put your feet up, even though there may be as many as seven or eight people seated on it at the same time. You may even find that there is a scramble as to who gets first go of it.

The most luxurious recliner would have to be a leather recliner as it has the looks and character to make it the focal point of any living room. A few years ago they would have cost you a fortune, but over time their price has lowered, but the quality of workmanship has not been compromised. That is not to say that fabric does still not have its upsides. Fabric is extremely versatile and brings you patterns that no other sofa can offer.

Home Theater Accessories - Changing The Mood

Home theater accessories maximize the function of your home entertainment system and enhance their overall performance and can determine the mood of your room. A theater at home, by our very loose definition, is an enveloping audio and video experience. That typically requires a big screen and surrounds sound-it's that simple. A big screen can be anything in excess of 30 inches. Anything under that really isn't capable of enveloping you in the moment.

A big screen should also be a widescreen, which is the more rectangular shape that many high-definition televisions (HDTVs) come in today. These models will also let you view more widescreen movies without those annoying black bars scrunching the viewing area.

DVDO is one of the latest technologies in entertainment systems. It helps produce a picture perfect clarity because it contains a picture converter that converts normal picture to high definition picture. DVDO also produces laser sharp pictures as well as a very distinct sound.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cables are another essential aspect of the theater. These cables are made from electrolytic copper conductors with gold plated contacts. This ensures that during the transmission of data, there is nothing lost in the process. HDMI also connects the home theater accessories to other devices such as gaming consoles and digital media player.

If you want to mount your flat television panel on the wall or place it hundred meters away from the video source, then you need the service of the pure link fiber optical cable adapter. This accessory is good to have especially if there are many people watching because by placing the flat screen several feet away from the source, the image will become larger.

You also need accessories from bulk wires, connectors and plates to panels for your AV need. The Liberty wires and cable is known for producing high quality cables. In order to provide smooth, continuous flow of data from the theater to various devices, you need to have high definition Coax cable.

The Best Hen Costume Ideas

When planning a themed hen party, the first thing to keep in mind is that the said party should suit not only the taste of the bride-to-be but also that of her circle invited. No matter if hen parties are considered to have arisen as a token of the sexual liberation ideas or as a token of the last complete female bonding occasion, the theme chosen should express the style and taste common to the bride-to-be and her friends.

Usually, any theme party is about freedom and the last day of freedom. As such, theme parties are most of them costumed games, expressing the pleasure of playing unbounded. Some people like to play rather more like in real life, while others are inclined to revive child memories or emulate their preferred movies or books while playing. In either case, for a theme party to be a success, creativity and the right amount of planning are essential. Even if the themes are so to speak ´classical´, with the right accessories, the outfits may be given that touch of singularity and memorable quality, which any hen 'arty should strive for.

If the girls share a passion for sports, they may choose a sportive theme, picking up as such either racing girl costumes, or boxer or baseball costumes. If in real life the bride to be is rather rational and authoritative, she may go for a referee suit, coordinating as it were the last game. If the girl´s common psyche is rather nostalgic for childhood games, they might remember the most beloved children game, the fight between Indians and cowboys, well cowgirls in this case. Neckerchiefs, cowboy hats and Indian wigs and headbands would be welcome make-believe additions to these costumes.

If less 'aggressive', they may stop at fairy tales, having the bride play the central character, whoever that is: the Riding Hood, Belle or Cinderella. If the animal kingdom looks more tempting, or they enjoyed watching a lot of cartoons as kids, they may plan an animal theme hen party with bumble bees and lady birds. On the same lines, if they are good girls or even religious ones, they may select an angel theme and embellish themselves with halos and wands and wings, imprinting that last purity before the wedding night.

On the contrary, if the girls want something spicy, and seductive games are more on their taste, they may choose among a great variety of outfits embodying hints or plain statements of seduction, sexuality and bondage, such as police women or pink police women, angels and devils, (the bride-to-be wearing the devil lady costume) or whatever the mind of men find seductive: waitresses, majorettes, bunnies, air hostesses, nurses, etc.

Have a Sports Themed Bar Mitzvah for Your Son

Who says that only girls are allowed to have themed parties for their Bat Mitzvahs? There is no reason why you cannot throw a themed Bar Mitzvah celebration party for after the religious part of the celebration is over. One of the great things about having a themed party is that you get to match every aspect of the party to the theme including the Bar Mitzvah invitations you will be sending out to everyone you hope will attend.

The big difference is that instead of frilly invitations, you will find that boys are more likely to be into some form of sports. If your son is an avid sports player you can use a picture of him playing his favorite sport as the main image for his custom Bar Mitzvah invitation. You can have the picture ghosted onto the invitation and then ask the card maker to use a really fun font to print the information about his special day.

You could go so far as to have the information listed in the same manner as a scoreboard might read and then have the front of the invitation emblazoned with either his favorite team logo or perhaps a baseball, a basketball or a football to complete the picture. Since you are having custom Bar Mitzvah cards made for your son, you get to choose the colors and this would be the perfect time to let everyone know who his favorite team is by having the invitations made in his favorite team's colors. If you order invitations that are layered, you can include all of the colors of his team.

As for the information that should be included on the inside, you need to list which synagogue the ceremony will be held and the time and date. You should then list where the celebration party is to be held, what time it will start and whether or not a meal will be served. You should also include a separate card that can be used for an RSVP so that you know how many people will be showing up.

Keep everything as simple as possible and make sure that you order a few extras as you never know who you might suddenly realize you forgot to invite. Don't forget to keep one of these custom Bar Mitzvah invitations for yourself as a memento of this important occasion. Even though you are going to keep one for yourself you should still have it completely printed as if you were sending it out as this makes it more of an exact replica of the ones that you sent out and lastly make sure that you save one for your son as well.

Celebrate Your Son's Bar Mitzvah With Custom Invitations

When your son's thirteenth birthday finally arrives it is time for you to start planning his Bar Mitzvah. This is probably the most important event in any young Jewish boy's life and you will need to plan the event very carefully. While this is a very solemn occasion in his life, there is no reason that you cannot have a big party after the ceremony is over. Once you have decided when and where you are going to have the celebration, you will need to start putting together the Bar Mitzvah invitations so that everyone you wish to attend can make their plans accordingly.

To start with you are going to have to put together a list of everyone that you want to have at this most auspicious ceremony and the celebration that follows immediately after. At this point you are going to have to make a decision, do you want to settle for invitations that you can pick up in the nearest store or are you going to let everyone know just how important this occasion is by ordering a set of custom Bar Mitzvah invitations that will be handmade to your specifications.

When you are working with the company or person that will be making your invitations, you will find that you can choose every aspect of the card. Unlike going to the store where you have to settle for someone else's idea of what makes the perfect Bar Mitzvah card. You can start by choosing the style including how many folds the invitations will have, the choices are typically one or two, follow this by choosing the color of card stock you want, you can add accents made from other card stock or images such as the Star of David or his name in print on the final outer layer to personalize each invitation.

Once the outside design has been settled on, you can start to work on the most important area of the card. This is the inside of the card where you will list all of the information regarding the upcoming Bar Mitzvah. You can choose the font you want used, add a silhouette picture of your son for the background and add a little saying in Hebrew if you wish. The idea is to create a custom Bar Mitzvah invitation that not only covers making sure that everyone you invite is going to show up, but that they will have a keepsake of the event that they can treasure for a lifetime.

Personalized Bat Mitzvah Invitations Make the Difference

Your Daughter is only going to have one Bat Mitzvah in her life and it is a very personal and special time in her life. With this in mind, every part of the celebration should be carefully chosen to make this special day one that she will cherish the rest of her life. Since all special events start out with inviting the guests, personalized Bat Mitzvah invitations will get the ball rolling.

When you go to the local card shop, depending on where you live you may be able to find a few basic Bat Mitzvah invitations. The only problem with these is that no matter how nice they might look, the only way you are going to be able to personalize them is with what you write in them yourself. Your daughter deserves much better than preprinted, run of the mill invitations that look more like they could be used for an after school party.

When you order a set of custom Bat Mitzvah invitations you get to decide what style of card you would like from a simple single card to a one or two fold design. You can choose the colors you want for the card adding layers of different colors or materials to create an invitation that is truly unique and very personal. More importantly, you get to decide what goes inside the invitation and this is where you have a chance to really make the invitations truly special.

You must of course include all of the information about both the ceremony and the celebration afterwards including the date and times for each. A set of directions for those coming from out of town is a nice touch as well. From here you can be very creative, have a picture of your daughter printed on the inner card along with an appropriate phrase in Hebrew or perhaps a background in her favorite flowers.

Anything that you can do to make the custom Bat Mitzvah invitations more personalized will only help make the event more memorable and provide all who are invited with a memento of the occasion that they can put in their scrapbooks and cherish for many years to come, don't forget to include one for yourself and for your daughter in the count and a few extras just in case you forgot someone important and need to send them an invitation as well. Never settle for second best where your daughter's Bat Mitzvah is concerned, take the time to order a set of handmade Bat Mitzvah invitations and rejoice in the occasion.

Things Your Custom Bat Mitzvah Card Should Include

With your daughter's Bat Mitzvah just a few months away, the time has never been better to start planning the entire event. In order for this to be a most memorable occasion, you are going to have to plan every part of the event very carefully, from the location to the foods that will be served. One area that so many people seem to drop the ball is invitations. Instead of hiring a professional to create custom Bat Mitzvah invitations for this special occasion, they end up either relying on word of mouth or going to the nearest card retailer for a box of cookie cutter invitations.

If you are going to plan a Bat Mitzvah for your daughter, you need to make sure that every detail including the Bat Mitzvah invitations is carefully planned and well thought out. Since you really should send out personalized invitations for this important invitation, you should be looking for someone that has a range of custom invitations for you to choose from as a base from which to start. This should include several different designs to choose from that you can customize to match the personality of your daughter or the theme of her Bat Mitzvah.

Since you will be ordering custom handmade invitations, you have complete control over every aspect of their design, what is included in them and how many you will need to order. While the appearance of your custom Bat Mitzvah invitations is very important and should be carefully considered and made to match either the overall theme of the celebration or a direct reflection of your son's interests or personality, you need to consider what else should be included in the invitation.

For those guests who are familiar with where your synagogue and the facility where you plan to hold the celebration afterwards are, you should only need to include the invitation and an RSVP card that can be mailed back to you. When you have out of town guests that are planning to attend you will find that adding a small printed map and a set of directions can be very helpful in making it much easier for them to find their way to both on time.

You can also include information regarding local hotels and motels, the bus and train schedules and any local phone numbers you think might be helpful. The more information you can provide, the better the likelihood is that your out of town guests will feel comfortable enough that they will make the effort to attend. These features are something that you can have printed out and included with every custom Bat Mitzvah invitation or you can provide a list of those that need them so that they are only added to the right cards saving both time and money.

How To Create An Elegant Room For Entertaining

If you love to entertain, but it always feels like you are flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to gathering people together, you probably need a better entertaining space. When people come to your home, you want them to be as comfortable as possible so they can relax and enjoy the company of others. There are a few things every space should have in order to create a social atmosphere that people will love. The next time you are considering hosting a party, take some time to think about the space in which everyone will gather. The better it feels, the more fun people will have. One of the best ways to make a space soothing and enjoyable is by adding music. You can do something as simple as bringing your stereo or CD player into the space, or you can add an actual instrument that encourages people to enjoy live music. Placing an instrument in the corner with a piano lamp right to the side will pull people in that direction. A lot of fun can occur at a social gathering when everyone gathers around the piano lamps and joins a sing along near the instrument.

Next, in addition to instruments, add items of interest to the space. If you have a collection of items somewhere in your home and you believe they will spark conversation among party guests, bring them into your entertainment space. You can also create a library in this space. While you do not want all of your guests burying their noses in books, the books will get people talking about what they have read and who their favorite authors might be.

Even though you want to fill the space with collections and objects of interest, you want to leave enough space so things are no crowded. People should have room to mingle and speak with other guests. It is also a good idea to create pathways throughout the room so it is easy to get to the food and drinks, and the bathroom, without feeling as if you are climbing over things.

Throughout the area, place plenty of seating that allows people to sit and dine, as well as sit while they are visiting. Make sure the seating is comfortable, and if you are having a casual cocktail party, you may not need seats for everyone, but make sure there is enough for people to be comfortable. If you are having guests who you know will struggle with standing for long periods of time, dedicate a seat to that person.

How to Start a Fire in a Fireplace

Nothing can ruin a planned romantic evening by the fireplace like fumbling around trying to get the fire started in the first place. Although starting a fire is not overly complex, there are a few pointers to keep in mind.

First, make sure the flue is open! If you do not have it open you will quite rapidly have a smoke filled room! The damper is basically a door that open and seals the entrance to the flue. Usually there is a handle extending from the damper that you use to open or close the flue. You might instead have chains that you pull to open or close the damper. It is helpful to wear a glove when working the handle or chains as they are covered in soot. Having a soot covered hand isn't conducive to romance either.

Next be sure you are using dry wood. Green, or undried wood will burn but it is very much more difficult to get a fire started and keep it burning using it.

The real key to starting a fire is to start small. Place very small twigs and branches, called kindling, on the fire grate. Be a bit generous - it will take more than a few to get things started. In front and behind the kindling place medium sized logs. On top of these and perpendicular place very small logs directly above the kindling and place slightly larger logs to the sides. In this fashion, the kindling will catch fire and burn long enough to ignite the smaller logs. The smaller logs will then ignite the larger one at the sides. Also, by having everything sit atop the medium size logs you are providing room for air to reach the fire as well as providing fuel for the fire to grow larger.

To actually start the fire you can use newspaper but this is not recommended as the ink in the paper can cause build up in the flue and pose a fire hazard. It is best to use firestarter. This is composed of sawdust and wax or similar products. Plus, it burns much longer than newspaper to ensure a good start.

Be sure to close the fireplace screen once the fire is burning to prevent sparks from flying out.

Now sit back and enjoy your romantic evening!

Control Your Child's TV Viewing

TV is entertaining and some programming is educational, but it is up to you to control what your child watches and for how long.

TV should not interfere with chores, homework, exercise, family time, etc. Children under two should not watch TV and preschoolers should only watch about 2 hours of TV a day. Once children are school age, they can no longer watch TV during the day which is good and when they get home they can watch some TV, but you control it. You decide whether they watch TV before or after eating dinner and doing their homework.

You as a parent or guardian also have to control what they watch. Pay attention to ratings, and watch shows before allowing your child to watch them. Not all parents have the same rules and beliefs. You don't want your child watching something that promotes something your family doesn't allow. If you have to, you can lock your kids out of viewing certain channels or shows according to ratings.

Don't use the TV as a babysitter, your child still needs you even when they are watching TV. They may not understand everything or they might not understand what commercials are. You have to be there to explain things to your child. Never put a TV in your child's room, even with blocked shows settings. A TV in the bedroom can cause them to not get enough sleep or to develop sleep issues.

If it is difficult to limit how much TV your child is watching, then set the example. Limit yourself and your whole family. Eat dinner at the table. Play games, go outside when it is nice. Promote play and physical activities. Also, limit computer time because TVs and computers tend to have the same negative effects on children.

Your Child And Television

There tends to be a lot of debate over children and television. Should you let your child watch TV? How much should you limit with the TV? After reading this article you may have an easier time making decisions about your children watching television.

What is the problem with kids and TV? Many professional say that watching TV impairs children's language development, causes difficulty in sleeping, child behavioral problems and increased obesity.

Those things are true, but there are also ways to prevent those issues.

Limit how long your child watches television. You may even want to limit your on TV watching time. Spend time doing things besides sitting on the couch. According to many pediatricians and different studies it is usually recommended that children younger than 2 years old should not watch any television at all. Children two or older should only watch TV for two hours a day. Also, don't put a TV in your child's bedroom because they will want to watch television instead of sleeping.

Always make sure the volume isn't too loud or they can damage their hearing. Also, make sure your child doesn't sit right in front of the TV. Frequently sitting too close to a TV can also hurt your child's eye permanently. Also, don't have the room too dark or that can hurt their eyes. There should be light on in the room with the TV.

A big issue with watching too much TV is that is leads to obesity. If your child just sits and eats while watching the television and doesn't get any exercise, they may gain weight. It's okay for your children to watch TV as long as they also go outside and/or stay active.

Watch TV with your children and explain things to them. Young children probably don't understand the difference between commercials and shows. Kids may also not understand some of the things that are happening in the show. Take the time to talk to them and explain things to them. If you don't agree with something you see on TV, tell your children. You can simply say "that is bad" and turn on a more appropriate show.

How Television Affects Your Children

How television can harm your child...

Causes eye problems
Causes hearing problems
Leads to aggressive behavior
Increased chance of developing ADHD
Increased chance of developing obesity
Impairs emotional development
Impairs language development
Destroys social skills
Destroys creativity and imagination

How to prevent these negative things from happening to your child...

First, make sure your child doesn't have the TV volume high, don't allow them to sit close to the TV, and discourage eating junk food while watching TV. It is very easy to do these few things and it quickly eliminates three negative side effects of TV watching.

Children absorb what they see and often copy it. Therefore, if your child is watching inappropriate shows, they may act inappropriately. They won't understand that it is wrong, they will think what they see on TV is good and right. This is one reason you have to monitor or control what your child watches. You should also watch TV with your child to correct any bad behavior that is shown.

If your child is young have them watch educational shows like Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues or Barney. If you aren't familiar with a cartoon then either don't put it on or pay close attention to its rating. Nick Jr. is a great channel to allow your preschooler to watch because before every show it says what it teaches your child, such as counting, sharing, making music, exploring, etc.

Limit the amount of time your child watches TV. Tell your child they can watch TV for 2 hours or that they can watch 4 shows. Always enforce this time limit and when it is up tell them that they must play outside or do their homework. Make sure you play with your child a lot. Play with toys, go outside and play tag or throw a ball. Do crafts, color, dance, play pretend. All these activities are fun and also help your child's development more than the television.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Vince_Armstrong

How TV Can Help Your Child Learn

It is suggested that children under the age of two should not watch any TV at all. Once children are around four years old, they can watch TV when supervised. Put on shows that are made for young children. Nick Jr. offers many cute, educational, and fun shows for younger children. These shows include Dore the Explorer, The Wonder Pets, Blue's Clues and many more. There are also other channels available so check what your cable or satellite provider offers. Plus, Barney and Sesame Street have been around for years and children still enjoy them.

The shows your children watch should cover topics like the alphabet, colors, shapes, numbers, expressing their feelings, sharing with friends, etc. Some of these shows even help teach children other languages including Spanish and Chinese.

If you expose your child to too much TV too soon, it can have negative effects such as increased chances of developing ADHD and obesity. They can also damage their hearing and sight if they watch TV at a high volume or too closely. Some people also believe children have behavioral and vocabulary issues from watching too much TV starting at a young age.

The key to letting your children watch TV is too wait until they are at least three or four and even then limit how long they watch TV and watch it with them. As a parent or guardian you need to be there to explain things that they might not understand. Also, you can monitor what the shows are teaching and if it goes along with what you are teaching your child.

If properly done watching TV can be beneficial for your child. Children's shows teach without your child even realizing they are being taught something. Subjects like letters and numbers are made attractive and exciting when presented by a bright-colored character that sings and dances. Control your child's television habits and use it to your advantage.

Allow Indoor Activities For Kids To Be Fun For Them

Although we all like to take our kids outdoors to play, there are occasions when indoor activities are just more practical. All too often though, we may just park our kids in front of the television and leave it at that. If you child is like mine though, that doesn't always do the trick!

Should indoor activities for kids be boring?

Ha -- if your kids are bored, forget it. In order for your children to have fun, they must enjoy what they are doing -- sounds simple enough, right? All too often, we try to force our children to do what we want them to do and not what they want to do. Perhaps we feel that we are doing them a favor or teaching them something, but in reality, it probably isn't going to work too great.

Of course, there is definitely a time to "teach" and show them certain things, but if your goal is to simply allow them to play, why not let them -- play!

There are many different, structured indoor activities for kids to engage in, but why not "let them loose?" It is actually good and healthy for your child to have some unstructured playtime. This even helps in their development. Children need time to create, try new things and express themselves. Whether they are playing video games, building cardboard-box-houses in their room, stacking Lego's or making a mess of their toys, chances are, our children are going show you what the most enjoyable indoor activities for kids are.

As long as we keep a balanced view of their time and activities, there is nothing wrong with letting our kids have some fun!
