How Can a Portable Toilet Save Your Life?

Everyone's seen portable toilets and are familiar with their nickname. Everyone, who's ever been to an outdoor concert, a wedding on the beach or has had some exposure to the construction industry. Construction sites and camping sites are the two places where these portable loos are most commonly seen, used and appreciated.

Many manufacturers have noticed the specific problems that these locations pose and have come up with innovative solutions that will take care of this problem for you. While a number of camping site will have these portable toilet units installed in a corner before you even get there a number of customers wish to have them present at their own events like marriages, outdoor parties and the like.

However, you would not want to buy a bunch of portable loos for a one off gathering. The most economical way to provide this kind of service to your guests is to rent the appropriate portable toilet.

There are many models and types of portable bathroom products that are available. These range from the larger units that are attached to the back of trailers and are pretty much replicas of any decent rest room that you would find in a modern hotel to multiple units attached together with just enough space to qualify as a urinal. These multiple units in the same 'box' are available in a variety of configurations.

One crucial tip that I wish to leave you with is that if you need a portable toilet unit for an extended period of time; consider a month or two then you can even buy your own set and later on when you're done with them sell them back to the company. This works out cheaper in the long run for a lot of cases.

How to Choose a Good BBQ Grill - 3 Tips to Selecting the Grill For You

With so many options available today, buying a barbecue grill for your summer cooking can be a daunting task. And with so many brands and so many features it can be difficult to decide which one is best for your needs. Here are a few helpful tips to make it easier for you to decide.

1. Do not buy more grill than you need.

The truth is we all tend to go to a store to make a purchase knowing exactly what we want and need and can easily get caught up in being tempted to spend more for something with more bells and whistles than necessary. This is an easy trap to fall into and can end up costing more than we budgeted...and more than we need.

When buying a grill, if you normally will be cooking for 4 or 5 people, don't buy a grill that you would need to cook for 20 people. A basic grill is best for those want to cook without the frills and in most cases will cook food that tastes just as good as the high priced model. A basic grill will cost you anywhere from about $80 to $200. The basic grill is best for most people who cook for a small group of people.

A mid-priced grill will be priced between $200 and $500. This is a grill that can cook enough for up to about 10 people at once. It may have additional features like side burners that can allow you to save time by being able to cook side dishes while grilling. They may also have features like fuel gages, stainless or coated cast iron grates which may sear the meat better.

If you really want to go all out and cook for the whole neighborhood, you could spend up to $1500 for an all stainless steel grill that will accommodate food for 15 or more people and may even have a rotisserie burner attached.

But keep in mind that a larger cooking surface could make it difficult to distribute the heat evenly. Not only that, but a rotisserie adds a lot of cost and most people end up almost never using that part of the grill.

2. Take the safety test.

Make sure that any grill you purchase is not an accident waiting to happen. Some things to consider for safety are:
Is the grill stable or could it easily be knocked over? How well will it stand on your patio or deck? How many wheels does it have and will it be easy to move without risk of tipping it over?
What kind of handles does it have? Wooden and plastic handles are better than metal because they won't get as hot as the metal ones.
Does it have a good drainage system for siphoning off grease that drips from your meat? This will help prevent dangerous flare ups.

3. Do your homework.

With the availability of the internet, once you decide what you need in a grill, you can very quickly go online and read reviews about everything that has to do with grills. You can even purchase your grill online and save a ton of money in many cases.

If you will consider all of these tips before you purchase your new grill, it can help you make a quicker decision when you get ready to purchase and can save you money. Decide what you need and what you can do without before you go to the store.

Bouncy Castles - What to Look For When Buying a Bouncy Castle

For some adults it can be difficult to see the appeal of bouncy castles. To children, however, bouncy castles are perhaps the most enjoyable thing in the entire world. The bouncy castle rental business is something that will be around for a long time, since people always need them as entertainment at children's parties.

If you have lots of children and/or regularly host parties it might be a good idea to actually go out and buy your very own bouncy castle instead of merely renting one each time you need it. The advantages here are that it should (hopefully) work out cheaper in the long run; you can have it for as long as and whenever you want and you don't have to deal with the hassle of calling up rental agencies.

If you do decide to buy, there are some important things you need to look for in potential bouncy castles. First of all, you need to make sure that any castles you buy are of the best quality. Buying a bouncy castle isn't cheap, so you'll want to make sure that any money spent is money spent wisely. You'll want to look at the quality of the fabric and materials being used as well as any online reviews that you can find regarding that particular model of castle (it also helps to read reviews of the manufacturer).

Secondly, you'll need to check whether the bouncing castle you're buying comes with insurance or not. Some castles come with a warranty and insurance as part of the package in case they break/pop unexpectedly. This is the best way to protect yourself, so always ask about this when speaking to retailers and suppliers. Many people also like to take liability insurance which protects them in case anyone is personally injured whilst jumping on their bouncing castle. While the reported injuries concerning children are relatively rare, it seems that it is more likely to be adults who hurt themselves (possibly after having a drink or two).

It may be seem like a somewhat novel idea, but you want to make sure that the castle you get actually looks nice and attracts people's attention. There are literally hundreds of different styles of bouncing castles out there at the moment, so you might as well get one that you like!

Once you've ordered a castle, you'll want to get the company that you've bought it from to come round and show you how to set it all up (i.e. how to attach the castle to the air pump) so that you can put it up by yourself the next time you want it out. Make sure that the air blower/pump is included in the bouncy castle's price, since you don't want to be stung by any unexpected costs when it comes to paying for it.

Anything About Teapots

Teapots are reservoirs of your favorite cup of tea in the morning, whether it is loose or bagged leaves, soaked in a hot water. They act as reservoirs waiting to be served to your special guests in your house. On the contrary side, tea kettles are used to heat water while teapots are utilized as reservoirs only. So this is considered great information to correct the misconception of people in the subject of tea kettle and teapot. Always bear in mind the real function of each thing.

Generally speaking, teapots appear to have a lidded opening at the peak wherein hot water and tea are poured out. As you may see, there is a tiny hole in the lid which serves as an outlet to permit air from passing through and put a stop to instances wherein tea keep on splashing. It also features a grip for holding and a spew out from which the tea is poured. There are few teapots that already include a built in strainer to strain tea leaves and other kind of fragments. So it may be advisable to purchase a built in strainer in order to have a convenient tea drinking.

Actually there are a lot of various teapots accessible in the market today. The one considered as the oldest and most well loved is the porcelain teapots. There are materials commonly used too, namely clay, glass, iron, metal and stone teapots. To give you an example is the Yixing teapot which is mainly prepared by the use of clay and is molded in China. On the other hand, you can have Brown Betty teapots too. Like Yixing teapot, they are prepared by the use of clay and are mainly done at England. That is why it would be a big help if you acquire more knowledge regarding these things.

However, there some teapots that are considered delicate or fragile that may require a very special kind of care. That is why it is advisable to wash it with warm water and let it dry in the air. So always bear in mind these things in order to preserve not only the physical or outward appearance of your teapot, but for its worth as well.

What Are Great Costumes - Uniforms For Masquerade Balls Parties

Shopping for costumes-uniforms should not be done during the month of October but far beforehand maybe even months before. There are several reasons one would want to plan ahead. Since you will always want to have the original and unique costumes you need to make sure to prevent the possibility of duplicating current trends and ideas. All it takes is a bit of research and the willingness to purchase your costume a little before hand; especially if you want to claim the costume thus preventing others from copying you! The four costume categories that have always been present for Halloween; Literary Characters, Historical Figures, Movie Characters and Monsters provide a plethora of ideas and inspiration for those seeking costumes.

The most popular literary character costumes are usually from Fairy Tales and nowadays anything inspired by Lewis Carrol. If you want originality try to steer clear of these. Try to go for something a bit more unknown but not so unknown that no one will get what you are dressed as. The real fun with dressing up as a figure from literature is that you should go out 'being' that character. Talking as they would talk, act as they would act it proves to be great fun. Some ideas for this category can include Oedipus, Heathcliff from 'Wuthering Heights', and even Holden Caulfied.

Of course, there is a bit of a problem should you choose to use a character too obscure for the mainstream crowd. You certainly do not want to go as the lead from a book that no one but you a few intellectually elite has read. Well, if the party is being held by those types of people then go ahead and aim for something truly off beat but just be mindful of the crowd.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it so why not spend that study time searching for a costume idea. The great Caesar, cowboys, Indians, and even Jack the Ripper feature prominently here. Instead of using the same old guys look at other eras of history. The Battle of the Bulge, early American figures, and even great explorers like Magellan may be that perfect mix of uniqueness and originality that garners you some notoriety at the party.

Of course, movies will always be the most popular source of ideas when it comes to what to wear on Halloween. Movies are such an integral part to our culture that there is really no other way but this. So remember that when searching for a costume. Popular and current movies may not be the best source of ideas but you can always look at classic films and older movies especially if you want something a bit ironic.

Last and certainly not least are the Monsters. Those guys from the old horror movies and B-reel movies from the silver screen. Dracula, The Mummy, and even a regular old moaning, groaning, shuffling zombie area annual favorites. While you can just as easily make these costumes as buy them, many people fall back on these when pressed for time. And sure you can customize and even update these classic movie monsters you should really aim for something a bit more modern and a bit more unique.

Really, it comes down to planning and originality. There are plenty of shops where you can purchase a great Halloween costumes but this will have to be done early to prevent shops from selling out. Be mindful of the popular trends and movies if you are looking for something unique and do not be afraid to think outside of the box. It is Halloween after all and come November first you will not have to go outside in something embarrassing until next year. So when you are out searching for those perfect costumes-uniforms be aware of how important originality plays into your decision and be creative.

There Are Many Good Options For CD Shelving

For those of us raised in the era of the phonograph records, which ranged from 45rpm to 33rpm, the new technology always takes us a little by surprise, even though we welcome most of the changes after a while. However, the shelves we used to store the 33rpm records on would waste a lot of space if we attempted to use it for CD shelving. The 33rpm records were 12" in diameter, which means the CDs would be stacked both two deep and two high, so we could not see the ones in back and would spend quite a bit of time digging for the right one, sending us looking for the perfect CD DVD storage shelves.

CD storage shelves are made out of wood, metal and plastic, all good quality materials, and they can be made for standing on the floor or hanging on the wall. Except for the difference in cost, it really comes down to the matter of personal taste. Some of these are open, while others are enclosed in cabinets, out of sight, another personal preference. So, how do you choose which CD shelf is the right one for you? People with small children may benefit from the ones that have doors on them or the CD wall shelves that can be hung out of the reach of the child.

A CD in the case measures 4 ¾" high x 5 ½" deep and a DVD case measures 7 ½" high x 5 ¼" deep, so make sure the shelf is enough taller to allow you room to get your fingers in to easily remove them from the shelf. Many of the shelves are adjustable, which is handy if you want to combine the storage of both items, or even use them for other things until you fill them up. There are so many types and styles to choose from that it is worth taking your time to figure out the right one for you.

Before deciding which CD shelving is right for you, count how many you have and check how many each of them holds. Some of them are able to be made in double and even triple widths so it looks like one big shelf. Take into account the people who live in the house with you and if there are small children, you may want a cabinet that closes or shelving that hangs on the wall out of reach. Your budget, personal preference and the space you have to put it in is all the rest of the information you need to make the perfect decision.

Activities For a Family Fun Night

Relationships need to be worked on. Business partners have lunch meetings. Couples have date nights. So, to build and improve your family relationships try establishing a family fun night! Here are some activities for family fun night that will make it easy for you to get started.

FIX DINNER TOGETHER. Make an evening, or even a day, of it. Sit down with the whole family and plan what meal they'd like to prepare. Then, take everybody grocery shopping. Next, go home and have each person choose a job in preparing and serving the meal. You'll see just how different meal time becomes when everyone feels like they've had a part in putting it together!
PRETEND THERE'S A BLACKOUT. As strange as it may at first sound, you'll have to admit that when there's a blackout, and there's no other choice, we quickly find ways to entertain one another without the interference of TVs, computers or radios. So, turn off all the lights, hide the iPods, and laptops, turn on some candles and gather everyone together. If no one comes up with ideas of what to do at first, be prepared with a fun, or scary, story to narrate by candle light. Maybe bring out some marshmallows and make smores by the flame of the candles (or fireplace if you have one).
BRING OUT A FAVORITE BOARDGAME. Who says this has to be a big production? Board games are easy to set up, easily accessible, and for the most part we never play them, unless we make a point to do so. It might be fun to ask the kids to come up with a list of board games they'd like to try, and use that list to gather the games you'll use.
CHALLENGE EACH OTHER. If you have older kids, you might want to challenge them at their favorite sport. Biking, basketball, soccer, whatever it is that they are into, challenge them on it. They'll probably pommel you, but it will make for good conversation later. Plus, it will show them you care about the things they love! If you have smaller kids, a team scavenger hunt might be fun!

You should have enough activities for a family fun night here to get you started. You will find that once you get the ball rolling new ideas seem to just pop out of nowhere. Keep a notebook or journal of both new ideas, and the ones you've already tried with dates and outcomes. This way you can be sure not to fall into monotony, and if something doesn't work you can make sure not to do it again. With a little creativity and a lot of love you can really make this work. Go at it and enjoy one another!

Inflatable Backyard Movie Screens - 5 Tips When Buying a Backyard Movie Screen

As summer approaches backyard movies are getting more and more popular. Whether you are planning on buying an inflatable movie screen for a birthday party or planning on creating your own summer movie festival there are several things you should look for when buying your screen.

Look for screen that is made for outdoor movies - Most screens made for the outdoors are inflatable and should hold up to the wind. Depending on the size of the screen they will have different tolerances for the wind but they all should have tethers and stakes for staking into the ground. The nice thing about inflatable screens is that if the wind does gust most of the time the screen will flex and not break like a solid frame model. If you can't stake it into the ground because of the landscape or you are showing it on pavement you should make sure you have some weights or sandbags.

Understand How It Inflates - Although most inflatable movie screens are similar as to how they inflate some have internal fans and some have external fans that inflate. Also some will inflate quicker than others and might take more than one person to do it. There is no right or wrong system and a lot of it is determined by the size of the screen you use but you should be aware of it so when you do go to inflate the screen there are no surprises. Also one thing to remember is that all screens have zippers that are used to open when you deflate the screen. It is good to know where they are before you try to inflate it so you don't have any problems on show night. Opened zippers are the number one problem when a screen doesn't inflate properly.

Get a Screen With Black Borders - Some manufacturers try to get the screens as large as possible by having the screen go right to the edge of the inflatable. Although this might seem like a good idea but by not having a black border around the screen it doesn't give the film the "pop" it should get and some of the picture may seem to fade out at the edges. Since you are outside you can't get the viewing area as dark as possible like you can inside due to ambient lighting, streetlights, stars and the neighbors house so you need as much help as possible to make the film bright.

Get the right size screen for your backyard movie theater - Bigger is not always better. You need to look at the size of your backyard, where you are going to show the movie, where everyone is going to sit before you can determine the size of the movie screen. Just like in a real movie theater, sitting in the front row is not always the best seat. If you have a small backyard a smaller screen will be just as good as a more expensive bigger screen. Also take into consideration the aspect ratio of the screen. Widescreen movies with a 16:9 ratio works best with newer widescreen movies as opposed to the 4:3 ratio.

Consider the type of projector that you will use - A HD projector will show a much better picture and you can get a larger screen and people will be able to sit closer and not see any pixel lines if they did with a standard projector. Also a HD projector works better with widescreen and a 16:9 ratio screen.

Having a Party? Top Five Home Bar Accessories From the Web

Backstory: I wanted to gather together all the cool people I know for an evening of fun and festivities. We'd nosh, mesh and dance till way after the stars came out. That was the original plan and it was really fun to come up with all kinds of possibilities for drinks, food and decorations. But when it came time to actually get the things I needed...different story.

Don't get me wrong. I love shopping just as much as the next girl, but after a whole day of driving around my town, I was tuckered out and only had a bag of plastic cups, some votive candles, and a bottle of Bloody Mary mixer to show for it. Prices were crazy, number one. Number two, selection was too limited, at least where I live. I needed something else, so I did what I do for lots of other things: went online. With debit card in hand and feelings of hope in my heart, I ventured forth...

Aftermath: Well, the party's over. It was awesome, I must say. I found excellent deals on the stuff I needed and shopped at places that could ship to my humble doorstep in time for the party, which in my case was by the end of the month. Note to all the party planners out there: As soon as you know you're going to host a party, get thee online and place your orders. While some sites will ship faster than others, the average time is a week to ten days. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the great stuff I found while online, to give you ideas of what you can get with just a click or two of the mouse.

One: Home Bar Accessories - First thing is to make sure you got your "swank" going with the right bar equipment. Nothing says "mod" like a stainless steel cocktail shaker set. You can get one of these for less than ten bucks and shake shake shake those frosty drinks! Pourers are great for scintillating bar drama too. For just a few dollars, you can look like a pro in your own pad.

Two: Bartender's Books - So maybe you're new to drink mixing. That doesn't mean you can't learn! Get a bartender's book, an essential among home bar supplies, and learn as you go.

Three: Gelatin Shot Glasses - Very cool and super fun, plus they actually work. I found "Twist-n-Shot" at a home bar accessories shop online and made Raspberry Party Shots with raspberry Jell-O and raspberry vodka (these disappeared first, I have to tell you) and "Twist-n-Shot" made it easy as raspberry pie.

Four: Spoons - Seriously, you don't want those tiny plastic spoons with the sharp edges that could also be used to carve pumpkins. Get some decent spoons and your guests with thank you for it. Plus you can get ones that look like silverware. How cool is that? Make your brown bag lunches classier too with these bar accessories for home use. Who'd have thought spoons could matter so much!

Five: Margarita Glasses - Or champagne, wine or shot glasses...all can be had for pennies - for plastic. Unbreakable, you can write on them and I found some that are colored to make my party perkier. We had strawberry margaritas at my bash (anyone detect a party theme yet?), but whatever drink you're planning on featuring, chances are you can find good deals on cool cups. Classy.

Shut Down the Video Games - Cornhole Awaits

Keeping kids busy these days can be a challenge, or it could be quite simple, really. Many parents have taken to video games for their kids because it's an easy way to have peace and quiet for a few minutes, or more. The problem is that those few minutes will add up to hours and then the hours will become days and weeks and months. Before you know it, your kid will be playing video games more than they do any other activity and that is neither good for their mental health nor their physical well-being.

There's a solution

It may simply be easier to ignore children who are playing videos games than to worry about entertaining them outside, but it doesn't have to be that way, nor should it. There is a simple solution that will get your kids outside and away from the addiction of video games and that solution is called the cornhole game.

Cornhole is an outdoor game that can bring kids out from their dark caves with the simple, mind-numbing doldrums of video games into the world of vibrant life and physical activity. Of course, cornhole isn't going to help anyone get into any real shape physically, but it is exercise on some level, and any exercise is better than no exercise at all, right?

Play with family, play with friends

The cornhole game can be played with family or friends or both at the same time. It's such a versatile game that it doesn't matter who you're playing against, the odds of success are pretty evenly matched, all things being equal, that is. Cornhole is simple to get the hang of; all you have to do is learn to toss a bean bag approximately twenty-seven feet to one of two cornhole boards and try to get them into a six inch hole located toward the back of the board.

It's that simple. Even if the bean bag doesn't make it into the hole, the next best thing is to try and keep the bag on the board. And what makes the game even more fun to play against friends and family members is that if your opponent has a bean bag on the board, resting precariously on the edge, you can also try to knock it off, or use their bean bag as a backstop the try and put yours in the hole.

The festivals are also host to allied activities, mostly music, and sales of products related to barbecues.

The most famous American barbecue competitions are Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue, the Memphis World Championship, The National BBQ Festival held in Georgia, the American Royal Barbecue held in Kansas, the Big Pig Jig held in Vienna, Georgia and the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party.

The three day long Memphis in May World Championship is one mile of barbecue competitions. Alongside the food there is vending, music, and a People's Choice contest that gives everyone a chance to judge the ware. Also present is the Cooker's caravan that gives people a behind the scenes look at the competition cooking.

The two day National Barbecue Festival in Georgia not only hosts a Best of the Best competition, but other contests for backyard cooks, kids, and even one for the master of the sweet potato pie.

The American Royal Barbecue held in the fall brings additional entertainment by way of a rodeo event and plenty of concerts. Spreading over 20 acres Kansas City's Stockyards District, the Royal is the largest barbecue competition in the world.

Unusually named, the Big Pig Jig was originally a whole hog cooking contest, but has now expanded to include stews, ribs, and sauce competitions. It also hosts an art and craft fair, concerts, a golf tournament, a hog show, hog call contest, and a 5K run!

Set in the beautiful background of Madison Square, the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party attracts people from far and near every summer to not only sample the best barbecue, but also to enjoy some great blues, rock, country, and soul music.

The Cake Stand Phenomenon

The past few years have seen the resurgence of the English traditional high tea and the most important ingredient of any tea table is the tiered cake stand. Usually made of china and decorated in flowers these tiered stands were last popular in the 50's when tea parties were all the rage. Well afternoon tea is back on the menu and these cake stands are now being seen everywhere you look, from shop windows to magazine articles and even on TV.

It's hardly surprising as the tiered cake stand is actually a very simple yet very useful addition to your tea table. Traditionally a tea table would have been quite small allowing two people to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and selection of cakes, biscuits or sandwiches. With a rather small table, a tiered cake stand would allow more space for arranging the cakes and also separating different cakes onto different tiers of the stand. Not only useful, this also looks attractive and stylish as a centrepiece to your table.

Now days cupcakes are all the rage and a selection of cupcakes displayed on a tiered cake stand looks absolutely superb at any tea party. This kind of thing is now very popular at children's birthday parties with individual cupcakes being given out for each child to take home rather than having to slice up a birthday cake into the correct amount of segments.

The tiered stand has always been a popular choice for wedding cakes, usually each tier comprising of one large piece of cake getting smaller with each tier upwards. Some very large wedding cakes being up to 7 tiers tall to ensure enough cake for every guest. However the individual cupcake idea is now very popular for large weddings ensuring each guest has an equal amount of cake.

How Balloon Artists Can Liven Up Your Event

There are two ways to host a party or event, whether it's personal or professional. You could either choose drab, mundane techniques and forms of entertainment, or you could make the affair much more exciting so that your guests will talk about the event days and even months later. To make a party or event truly memorable, you need to ensure that you think out of the box.

Normally, most office parties are notorious for their inclusion of the same old entertainers like magicians or mind readers. Eventually, things get so boring that people already know what is going to happen at the party, and most don't bother to attend unless they absolutely have to.

Now, we all know that if you want to host a fun and energetic party, the best way to do so is to surprise your guests, to go "outside the elements," so to speak. So if you are planning a corporate event at your workplace, have you considered hiring balloon artists?

Yes, you heard that right, and no, there is no need to conjure up images of a clown making animal balloon sculptures, because balloon artists come in as many shapes as the sculptures that they make. As a matter of fact, many balloon artists pride themselves in working exclusively at corporate events including office meets, annual parties and even trade shows.

When hosting a kiddie party, you could have a lot of fun with a balloon artist around. He can entertain the kids and their parents alike with some quick wit humor as well as amazing balloon sculptures. But, when used at a grown up event, these guys can weave magic into different shapes and colors.

Depending on the event that you are planning for, you could either hire a professional who is just a balloon artist, or an artist who not only sculpts balloons but also doubles up as a clown, or you could also hire balloon artists who can help you to deck up the venue.

Balloons can add to the decor of just about any party, whether you are hosting your child's fifth birthday, a sweet sixteen party, an anniversary, an office party, or any other event that you can imagine.

You could spend hundreds or even thousands, depending on the size of the venue and the intricacy of the decor if you were to hire professional venue decorators. However, balloon artists can manage the job easily without breaking the bank and with a lot of panache.

When hired for corporate events, balloon artists will be able to get a special message across in a special 'tongue in cheek' way, with the help of their balloon sculptures and a few cleverly made comments. Can you imagine how hilarious and entertaining it can be to see a balloon artist turn a regular looking balloon into a corporate honcho, complete with beady eyes and a big belly? It will and does leave most attendees in splits.

You could also hire the services of balloon artists for professional events such as trade shows, fund raisers, grand openings, product launches, store openings, promotional events, restaurants, parties, and more.

When hired for trade shows, balloon artists will not only be able to engage the attention of potential customers, but will also be able to deliver customized and valuable information, so the marketing implications of getting a balloon sculptor on board can be significant.

An Activity For Your Kids That Has Never Been Outgrown

There are some activities that children never outgrow. Some come and go with each generation, and some last from generation to generation. One such activity is hopscotch. We played it, our grandparents played it, their parents played it, and our own children play it today. It not only expends energy, but it helps children learn coordination and balance. It works their minds as well as their bodies. Hopscotch is one of those activities, like jump rope, that never seems to grow old. Its excitement is renewed with each rising generation.

Today hopscotch is not only limited to sidewalks and sidewalk chalk however. Because people know that hopscotch is such a long-lived activity, they've come up with new and innovative ideas on how to make that activity more fun an accessible for children. They've done this by creating hopscotch mats. These mats come in all different types. You can get a basic version, a Dora the Explorer version, a Disney Princess version, whatever fits best with your children's personalities.

You can find one that your children will love. And the great thing about it being a mat is that it's portable! It is no longer something your children can only do if they are home and on their own sidewalk, it is something you can take with you to Grandma's to help your children have a fun activity to do if they get bored. Or if they just need to get a little energy out. Getting a hopscotch mat is an investment worth making so that you can have something that will provide your children with many hours of fun!

Flip Flop Party

Invitations

Invitations can be custom designed or store bought. You can purchase ones that are shaped like a flip flop or create your own with brads and card stock paper. I sent out free invitations to my girlfriends this summer by using Evite.com.

The invitations you send help set the tone and feel for your party. Be sure to include dress attire such as "Wear your Favorite Flip Flops." I also let the guests know that there would be prizes for the cutest sandals and the prettiest toes.

Party Supplies

Themed arty supplies are easy to find on-line or in the stores in the beginning of the summer. Consider a flag out by the front door or entrance to the pool or backyard. Use themed plates and napkins.

Decorate with flip flops by tying bright lime green ones with lime green ribbon onto the pool gate. Hang inexpensive sandals from your local dollar store from the ribs on your patio umbrella.

Serve cupcakes decorated with frosting, colored sugar and little flip flops.
Party bags can be made inexpensively with themed stickers placed on solid colored gift bags.

Games

After the guests have all arrived, give each one a single flip flop sticker. Instruct them to find the person who has the matching sticker. When they find their match, have a question for each to answer, such as tell me about your favorite vacation or what vacation plans do you have for the summer.

Have guests vote on the cutest sandals or prettiest toes. Award prizes to the person whose sandals have traveled the farthest, or perhaps the ones that have been most recently purchased.

As prizes for your games purchase little pedicure sets, nail polish or themed notepads.

Bratislava Stag Weekend Will Bring Out the Brat in You

Slovakian capital Bratislava is the youngest European tourist destination because it has so far been in the shadow of its more popular neighbour Prague. A weekend in Bratislava is a wholesome experience because of the dynamic nature of the place. The city is compact making it manageable to check out all the attractions within a weekend. The city is a classic example of history meets lifestyle. Whether classical arts, opera, ballet or traditional Slovakian folklore, or chic dancing bars, themed pubs, and underground clubs; a stag weekend in Bratislava never disappoints. Given the number of restaurants and cafes here, the city itself is called a huge restaurant. The Mediterranean weather here gives it an added advantage.

Here are the activities for Bratislava stags:

- Steak and strip: Stuff yourself silly with steak and enjoy the attention of pretty Eastern European women. This is the most popular stag activity in Bratislava. You also get to guzzle down gallons of beer, something that is an important part of Bratislava lifestyle culture.

- Mud wrestling - Who says mudslinging is bad? Not when you have two hot bikini-clad women in a mud-wrestling ring... and to top it up, they call the stag for a wrestling match and get dirty with him.

- Bar Tour - Pub hopping at its best - a guided tour by two guides (booze hounds and party girls) to the best of pubs and bars in Old Town. You get a drink free at the best bar.

- Casino Royale - You're anyway lucky to be having a sultry time with beauties and beer. Why not go the whole hog and try your hand at roulette, slot machines, poker and the like?

- Bowling and Beer - Whether you like defeating your pals at a game of bowling or just sit with them and have beers, you can do it at bowling centres. What's more, there are different accessories and balls of different sizes to suit your preference.

These are all for the night crawlers. But, during the daytime you can have as much fun with many adrenaline rushing activities that Bratislava holds. You can go

Bungee jumping
Indoor go karting
White water rafting and kayaking
Airsoft matches
Paintball
Ice hockey matches
Skiing

Paintballing games are the most thrilling and sought after activities in Bratislava stag weekend. You get to sport an army look complete with ammunition. Ambush and attack your cronies and get attacked too. There are dense shrubberies, oak trees, bunkers, etc to make the experience complete. There aren't many paintballing venues in Bratislava. There is one in an old building and one in open field. You will be provided with guns and ammo on the spot. You can also request hotels to organize for paintball games.

Wearing a Halloween Costume in My Childhood

In the sixties when I was a child, it was the night of Halloween that I loved the most. When darkness had fallen, we would lather windows with soap, and ring peoples' doorbells, usually in our Halloween costumes.

Sometimes it was neighbors we liked but more likely we would pick those we did not warm to because we knew they would react more angrily and that was the best part.

Sometimes we would ring once or twice and then at other times, 12 times. Then we would hide somewhere nearby and wait for the person to answer again and again, getting angrier each time. If we were lucky he would chase us down the street. And for me looking back, that was what Halloween was all about.

On this great night children had power and adults could do nothing to stop us. Today things have changed and children have even more power and grown ups now frighten children. So for example, every Halloween night, on what is often called witches night, Ian smith from Toronto, sets up a witch one night. The next he adds two tombstones, and finally two skeletons, coming out of the ground.

And more people are starting to spend several hours turning old wood into graveyards and dungeons. These haunters love the test of setting something creepy up, even in small gardens. Home haunting is catching on with theatrical and Gothic mums and dads.

At what other time of year could you place a serial killer in your front garden. People spend months planning their decorations and teasing others in the neighborhood with their creepy displays.

These Halloween decorators have discovered what the film industry has always known and that is that we love a horror story. So for example, if you look closer you will discover that these haunted scenes have a theme that ties the decorations together. One couple staged an alien invasion on a video outside their house. They then took visitors through an alien spaceship that they had built in the back yard. Whether or not people believed them seems not to matter. The fact is, at least on this night, all is taken seriously.

Why a Crystal Glass Pitcher is a Better Choice Than Plastic

Crystal cut glass is one of the most elegant things you can have sitting on your dinning table. When I was growing up my grandmother had a crustal pitcher that was engraved with her and my grandfather's name as it was given to them as a wedding gift, she treasured that pitcher and made sure only the best drinks went into it. When you poured a glass of fresh lemonade out of it it tasted so good, guess you can taste the love.

A pitcher is probably the most used glassware when having company over because for some reason friends and relatives are always thirsty, especially if alcohol is in it. So during a night you will see that pitcher hold a variety of drinks as the light from the chandelier glows up highlighting the sparkling cut crystal to make it seem so inviting as to say, "hey you, have a drink."

It is true that these crystal pitchers make the drinks taste better, even if it is all in your head it just gives that impression. One day I came across some kids selling lemonade at an event that they had just made, they were proud that they squeezed their own lemons and made it organic, not just some sugar powder mix in pouch. The lemonade was delicious, but hey were serving it out of a dark pitcher where you could not see the glowing yellow of the lemons, and guess what they had a lot of competition there to compete with. I suggested they use a clear glass pitcher, even though these were kids they seemed old enough and responsible enough to handle it without breaking it. This way a potential customer could see the sun hit the glass and let the lemonade glow like a diamond, thus making it much more appealing and driving more sales through out the day. The next day the children took my advice and used their mom's crystal pitcher and they increased their sales 3 fold, and I got free drinks because of my expert advice.

How to Choose Tropical Dinnerware to Suit Your Style

If there is anything that can quickly and easily change the look of your dinner table, and change the look of your whole room into the bargain, it is to use some brightly colored tropical dinnerware. This not only changes the appearance of the table, but can also turn mealtimes into a fun occasion, something which can be great for children, helping them to enjoy their food more. The good news is that there are simply hundreds of styles to choose from, making it almost a certainty that you will be able to find a style to suit your decor.

And of course, just because you are using tropical style patterns at the table it doesn't mean that you have to use them only with tropical style food. This type of dinnerware can be used with almost any type of food, and simply used to bring a bit of color to the table. The designs go well when serving European food such as pasta or fish dishes, though a fish dish will have a tropical feel in many cases.

Many tropical patterns are usually provided on melamine tableware, which not only has the advantage of being easy to care for, but is also highly durable, which makes it a great choice if you have children with their penchant for breaking things, especially things like highly fragile bone china dinner plates. These types of melamine dinner sets usually contain a selection of both serving and dinner plates, giving you everything you need for a full dining experience.

It can also be an idea to look at different shapes of plates, since these can add an even more unique style to the dining table. Take a look at shapes such as oval and square as well as the usual circular styles, especially those with the more vivid patterns containing colors such tropical yellow and blue.

As for prices, these will vary depending on whether you choose a high quality porcelain or the cheaper melamine. Do some research into the various styles and prices and you're sure to find a dinnerware set that will brighten your life at the right price.

Discover How Stoneware Dinnerware Can Impart a Unique Look

Giving the table a unique look is one of the best ways to make a dinner party memorable, and one of the best ways give a unique look is to use stoneware. The reason is that this imparts a very rustic style to a dinner table, which really cannot be achieved by using any other kind of tableware. It can be an excellent choice for informal dining occasions, though there is no reason to believe that it cannot be used for the more formal occasion as well, especially if very high-quality stoneware is used.

There is now such a wide range available that it is possible to find a full range of serving plates and dishes as well as the usual plates to eat from. This style can go down very well with mediterranean food, such as Spanish and Italian cuisines.

You do need to make sure that the design fits in with the theme of your dinner party, and so it is a good idea to plan well ahead to make sure there are no incongruences. One way around this possible problem is to make sure that any elements that are not typical stoneware fit in by being as simple as possible.

For instance, when it comes to flatware it can be an idea to use something in a very simple style, even if it is made from a fairly formal-style material such as silver or pewter. In this way all the elements of the table are much more likely to work together.

One of the most striking styles you can chose is black stoneware, since this really adds a unique design touch to a table. The good thing about this color is that it can fit in with antique styles of flatware in some cases, giving you the best of both worlds.

Also, don't forget that one of the most traditional forms of stoneware is that made in the far east, particularly Japanese styles. These can add a real element of sophistication to your table, and can also be found at fairly inexpensive prices with a bit of research.

Buy a Flat Screen TV and Upgrade Your Viewing Experience

It's amazing when you think of how far technology has come. It was only just a joke when Ralph Kramden told his wife Alice that the reason he wouldn't buy a TV is because he was waiting for 3D television.

As funny as that was at the time, today it is a reality and with the size of television screens increasing to phenominal proportions, it's no wonder that people want to by flat screen TV's.

If you don't yet own your own flat screen television, how much longer do you think you can go on looking at your old 32" before you decide to upgrade?

Today's flat screen technology is capable of providing the user with an incredible viewing experience that can only be topped by going to a movie theatre.

Types of Flat Screen TV's

There are three popular types of flat screen TV's that are available:

1. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)

2. Plasma

3. Light Emitting Diode (LED)

Each of these types of televisions has the ability to produce crisp and clear colors that will make you feel as though you've just been cast in the latest hit movie.

LCD TV's have a tendency show a blurry picture in high action scenes that involve a lot of fast movement and the average life span of LCD TV's is approximately 30 to 70 thousand hours.

Plasma TV's are very good at depicting low light and shadow areas and have an average life span of approximately 50 to 90 thousand hours. They are also a bit on the heavy side.

LED TV's are a somewhat of a happy medium between LCD and Plasma TV's.

It's good to take into consideration who will be watching the flatscreen TV you decide to buy as this will help with the decision to buy one that comes with internet connectivity and whether or not that is of major importance or not.

Also depending on the room that you will be watching your television in can also help in determining whether or not you'll need to purchase home theater equipment or if the sound from the TV itself is enough.

Your Outdoor Dinner Party Checklist

Entertaining outdoors can be a fun way to take a traditional dinner party and make it an enchanting event. A patio dining set during this time can become a central focal point that gets noticed, especially when you consider the possibilities attached to wicker patio sets.

Certainly, a traditional metal patio dining set with an elegant tablecloth and candle lighting can look amazing out in the garden against the soft glow of the moonlight. But consider that wicker patio sets can take your setting to a higher level. Inside the wicker, you can run either real ivy or plastic ivy and take it around the edge of the tables and chairs. Inside the backs of the chairs, you can add flowers or any number of other items to give it a more magical feeling.

For a successful dinner party, there are some items that you must have at your event. Use this checklist to help you nail down the basics, and consider other items that might make the event more unique.

Tablecloth. Use one that matches the event theme. From light and floral patterns to dark and vibrant. Be certain that this fits the table and the look you are trying to achieve.

Napkins. Depending on the type of dinner party you are having, consider using anything from paper napkins to more elegant cloth ones. Just be sure they match your setting. Consider using a napkin ring to increase the elegance of your setting.

Dinnerware. Depending on what you are serving, you will want to use the best tableware and utensils that are appropriate to the setting. For a more casual event, you might use paper plates and plastic utensils. For a formal event, you can even consider using fine china and hand polished silver.

Glassware. Depending on the drinks you will be serving, you will need to make sure you have the appropriate set up. For coffee and hot beverages, mugs are always a good choice. For iced drinks, a tall glass is usually the best idea. And of course, wine glasses always lend themselves to a beautiful, elegant look. In some cases, you might want to use wine glasses as a replacement for traditional water glasses.

Salt and Pepper, Condiments. These are essential for your guests to truly enjoy their dinner. Be sure you have all the necessary spices and toppings available for your guests.

Centerpiece. This will prove to be an essential item. Make it reflect the entire theme of the event and current setting.

Candles. Candles are a must for a beautiful setting and creating a wonderful ambience. These should be lit before the event to give them a light drip that looks elegant. Pillars are usually more formal while tea candles are more elegant.

Music. Something soft and relaxing is important to help set the mood. Try to find instrumental music as a relaxing backdrop to your dinner party.affair.

Wine. Keep in mind that your wine should match your protein dish, match white with light meats and red with darker ones.

Surrounding decor. Be mindful of the overall look and feel your are trying to create and incorporate your patio dining set into the setup as a focal point. Use plenty of flowers and plants to create the perfect setting.

Outside Barbeques - A Return to the Original

By returning to the original BBQ design, burnt raw meat can be a thing of the past. A barbequera was originally the principal method of cooking in Portugal, consisting of a woven reed basket, soaked in water and left smouldering on top of embers placed on the ground. This evolved into building the fire at a higher level for ease of working and eventually the barbequera was raised above the heat to make for a slower, more even cooking temperature.

Finally, the heat was enclosed on all 4 sides and the cooking surface was further distanced from the heat, enabling the cook to work on other things while the main dish was being brought to gentle perfection unsupervised. The traditional Portuguese piri piri chicken kitchens still use this foolproof cooking method, particularly in the north around Oporto. The texture and flavour of the meat is unrivalled.

Making a traditional BBQ couldn't be more simple. Select a solid, flat surface away from the house, lay 2 paving slabs on the ground and build up 6 pillars at the corners and centre of the slabs using house bricks. These should be 6 courses high. No need for mortar. Place another 2 slabs on top of the pillars and, most importantly, lay 2 layers of bricks on these pavings. This will stop the heat from cracking them. Finally, build a wall round the edges of the flat surface to complete a brick-walled pit. 2 or 3 boot scrapers from the ironmongers is all you need for a cooking surface.

This is now ready to roll. And all for the low cost of 4 flag stones and a pallet of cheap bricks.

The optimum fuel is oak off-cuts, but any timber will do. Fill the pit and burn it for a minimum of 4 hours, topping up from time to time. The barbeque is ready when embers glow from distance of a foot or more from the cooking surface. Any wood will do if oak is not an easy commodity. There's always someone selling logs and a load will last 3 or 4 seasons. The immediate discovery will be that meats look after themselves with just occasional turning and supervision. Pots can also be placed on the user friendly cooking surface for sauces and vegetables.

Finally, it's worth investing in a set of professional stainless chef's grill tongs and some black iron cookware. This gear can be dedicated to the BBQ and left outside in a dry place. Once used on this type of barbeque, the carbon deposit will not go down too well in the house!

By bucking the trend of the American style metal BBQ sets, the outside cook can not only enjoy some of Portugal's famous heritage, but also dispense with the hit and miss pastime of the raw, black banger. Once a gently turned whole chicken from the Portuguese barbeque has been sampled, there will never be a return to the black, raw banger!

4 Benefits to Adding Swingsets to Your Backyard

In modern America where technology puts a universe of possibilities at our fingertips, and sometimes multiple virtual universes, it's easy to over-complicate the means of keeping your child entertained. Every kid thinks they need all the latest gadgets and over-hyped video games, and with parents growing less stubborn, more distracted, and more complacent, they typically just get what they want. But I'd like to venture that the perfect addition to your child's life can be as simple and old school as the swingsets we loved when we were kids.

Here are 4 benefits to adding swingsets to your backyard for the ultimate in childhood entertainment.

1. Make Your Home The Place To Be

One thing I love about adding swingsets to your backyard is that suddenly your yard becomes the place to be. Most swingsets these days have all kinds of add-ons that turn them into a complete playground, so instead of running amuck all over town looking for something to do, the kids are in your backyard.

Now that usually means all their friends and the neighborhood kids are going to be in your backyard too, and that means more responsibility for you. But before you shun that as too much, realize that someone needs to be responsible, and with most parents not wanting to take that on these days, too many kids are running around causing trouble and getting into things they shouldn't be.

Would you rather have the stress of not knowing what is going on or the stress of stopping it when you see it?

2. Get Them Outside

Remember when you were a kid. What did you hear the most from your parents? For me, it was either, "Why don't you kids go play outside?" Or, when we were getting in wrestling matches and climbing up the walls, "Take it outside!"

But in our cities and suburbs where outside has taken on a whole new meaning, kids go from indoor environment to indoor environment; school to home to the mall; and get no fresh air. Swingsets in your backyard mean getting outside while staying out of the street and staying safe.

3. Get Them Active

When you think about it though, even though fresh air and sun is essential, what our parents really knew was that kids need to be active. All those video games, movies, sitting in the car, and even sitting at school is doing nothing for healthy physical growth; don't even get me started on diets.

Putting together a playground in your backyard, complete with swingsets, trampoline, some monkey bars, and maybe even a basketball hoop, provides a regular source of healthy physical activity for your children. We could likely use a little ourselves, so get out there with them from time to time.

4. Increase The Value of Your Home

Believe it or not, a high quality wooden playset may even increase the value of your home. Why is that? Well, for the same reasons you're considering buying one yourself. Families looking to buy a home will certainly take it into consideration when shopping around. They'll think; built-in entertainment, keep the kids active, keep them in the yard, and get them out of our hair...awesome.

And all other things being equal, wouldn't that raise the perceived value of your home compared to another? The answer is obvious to anyone who knows real estate, as is the simple fact that perceived value is the common denominator of selling price.

The 2 People That Make a Party Successful

When you're throwing a party at your home, it's important to be a good host - and in my opinion, this means you need to make sure that everyone has everything that they want, when they want it. A tough level to achieve, for sure. But you don't need to be constantly serving everybody - you can do this by making keeping the food and entertainment ready to go, so they can help themselves. Here is some advice on how to do this.

-Make sure someone is on food full time
You need to have someone constantly keeping food levels high. This person may be you, but if so, keep in mind that this is where the bulk of the work will come from. Fed people are happy, lazy people. The key there is happy. But lazy is good too, because then they'll be easier to keep satisfied, as they sit around and talk or doze off. The perfect result for you.

-Make food accessible for them
One of my favorite realizations was at a party when I figured out that I could use freezer baskets to keep the deserts neatly organized, and ready to come out. I'd just pull out the basket, put the ice cream cups in small bowls, and hand them out. By keeping myself organized, I was able to keep the serving organized. And it resulted in a successful party.

-Have the entertainer ready
The food person is half the battle. The other half is the socially savvy person that will keep spirits high, conversation flowing, and the party a smashing success. Again, this may be you - you could even try both of these jobs if you want. But when I'm running a party, I look at the food person as step 1, and the entertainer as step A. A party will be okay if one is great and the other is okay, but if you get both of them working in sync, you have an A-1 celebration.

History of Inflatable Bounce Houses

In the year 1959 the first inflatable bounce house was designed. John Scurlock from Shreveport, Louisiana had done some experimentation with inflatable swathes for tennis courts. He soon noticed that his workers enjoyed jumping with the inflatable covers. John Scurlock a mechanical engineer, then designed and manufactured some inflatable tents, inflatable domes and inflatable signs. They soon become very popular and useful for many. His greatest achievement in this field was the invention of safety air cushions. This product is now widely used by fire and rescue departments to hold people jumping from heights.

The first manufacturing company of inflatable and space walk was in New Orleans in a leased warehouse. In the year of 1968 a lady named Frances started an inflatable rental company and in 1976 they constructed a custom facility for the manufacture and leasing of such products. They promoted their inflatable items in various events like kid's birthday parties, school functions, picnics and many more occasions. Gradually inflatables gained popularity. Frank the son of Frances had prolonged their rental business all over the United States under a brand title Space Walk and Inflatable Zoo. Frank also established the premier inflatable indoor play park which is named as Fun Factory on Thanksgiving Day 1986 in Metairie, Louisiana. In 1987 the second unit of that park was opened in Memphis Tennessee which is named as Fun Plex. They invented the first inflatable which was an open top mattress that had no sides and they named it as Space Pillow.

To solve the warmth problem an innovative product was launched. It was in the year of 1974 that Jupiter Jump was born. These jumps had inflated columns to support netting walls so that the air can pass through (The Modern Jump). In the very beginning of 1990s Frank produced the first commercial inflatable water slides which was called the Aqua Tunnel.

Top Ten Halloween Costumes For 2010

Halloween is right around the corner. What started as simple trick or treating has become big business in the United States. Last year we spent 4.75 billion dollars alone on Halloween. Which is surprising because it seemed like my kids were still getting lame candy like sweet tarts and blow pops. It seems like if people are forking out that kind of dough we would see a lot more snickers and almond joy. The greatest expense for Halloween these days is not candy it is yard decorations and elaborate costumes. Costumes aren't just for the kids anymore. No, just like everything else Halloween costumes and yard decorations have turned into a game of keeping up with the Joneses.

Keep that in mind if you are planning on going to a party? In 2010 you do not be caught with your loincloth down. If you are joining in on the festivities you need to pay attention to what is going on in the world. Whatever you do, do not show up to a party painted blue like someone from Avatar, that is so 2009. Instead, check out our list of the top ten Halloween costumes for 2010.

Michael Jackson

Think of the looks you'll get as you moon walk into the party with that iconic white glove! Go as "beat it!" version or my favorite the "smooth criminal" version. Is it too soon to be in the top ten Halloween costumes? Normally I would say yes, but we are giving it a pass since everyone is trying to cash in on his death.

Buzz Lightyear/Woody

Number 2 and 3 on the Top Ten Halloween Costumes for 2010 are a great team! How could Buzz and Woody not make it into the top ten Halloween costumes? Yes, the Toy story saga is over, but it does not have to be for you. Buzz and Woody are fun and current. Who does not love these guys.

Captain America/Hulk/Thor/Iron Man

There is a lot of buzz about the Avengers, and that makes these Halloween costumes hot options. Iron man 2 was a big hit, the hulk is coming out in 2012 and Thor and Captain America movies are coming out next year. Plus if you go as Captain America you get a cool shield you can throw at trick or treaters.

Frank the bunny

This is one of those snobby movie references. It's from the cult hit Donnie Darko, which was only seen be thirteen thousand single guys...who are probably still single. They will love this demented bunny costume the minute they see it, but to everyone else it will be a little creepy.

Inception- Dom Cobb

This is actually a cool idea for the top ten Halloween costumes. Wear a skinny suit, tie and wear a fedora. To add to the effect carry a metal suitcase and spin a top every once in while.

Do's and Don'ts For DIY Brides

Do It Yourself brides are on the rise, especially in this economy. Women still want the wedding of their dreams but are realizing that the price tag does not fit the budget. As a result, many of them are rolling up their sleeves, heading to Michaels and doing a lot of the leg work themselves. But before you reach for your hot glue gun, read my tips for diving into a DIY wedding:

DO remember your guest count. Before you take on a project think of how many people you are making them for. Details like programs, menus, favors increase as the guest count does. You can get away with making one per couple for the aforementioned but with a 200 person wedding comes 100 favors that need gluing, tying and assembling and after #57 you may want to throw those ribbon wrapped box of chocolates across the room.

DON'T forget it all adds up. When I was little there was a store in my neighborhood called "Cheap John's." I don't know who John was but boy did he have cheap stuff. My mom and I would go pile things in our basket exclaiming "It's only a dollar, get 2!" Wouldn't you know that the total was almost always over $100? We tend to forget the grand total when we are lured with a great bargain. But keep a tab on your "cheap" buys and ask yourself if the sum of it all would make more of an impact on something like lighting or larger flower arrangements.

Do gather help. If you are going to take on one or more projects to make your day perfect then enlist the help of your bridesmaids. Just know there will be those who jump at the opportunity to let their inner Martha Stewart shine and others who would prefer root canal to tying little ribbons on tulle packets of rice. However, everyone can play a part and the best way to get them all together is to have fun with it. Get a few bottles of wine, order your favorite take out, play great music and have some laughs; not only will you get your project done faster but you will have some great memories that last forever!

Don't take on more than you can chew. Placing a bunch of roses in a vase in one thing, making a 4 foot tall centerpiece is another. Know your limits and ask yourself if this project will make or break your wedding. Furthermore, make sure your expectations match your skill level. You pay of what you get and high price tags are usually attributed to the work and expertise that goes into it; keep that in mind when you are replicating a centerpiece you saw on Platinum Brides.

Do your homework. Magazines and the internet are great resources for Do it Yourself projects. Youtube is a wonderful tool for learning just about anything. Another great resource are the experts. Many wedding professionals are available for Q&A on wedding websites, blogs and even at showcases. Don't be afraid to pick their brain, the worst they can say is that they are uncomfortable sharing insider tricks.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF Last but most importantly is to remember that a wedding last a day and a marriage lasts a lifetime. No matter how many projects you tackle or how much money you save a wedding is a celebration of love, family and friends.

Some Great Outdoor Activities to Do With Your Family

Any time you want to discuss outdoor activities at the home there are an unlimited number of options of games that you and your family can participate in. I grew up on a farm and as such, as children my brothers and I had to use our imaginations. That never stopped us from having fun. Quite the contrary actually.

Here are some of the best games for you and your family to play outside.

If you have a pool, then the sky is the limit. One of my favorite games to play in the pool is pool basketball. It requires a different level of athleticism than traditional on land games, and as such may even the playing field out for kids who are not at athletic.

Another great activity to do in the water is go swimming. No surprises here, but swimming is fun and also happens to be great exercise. If you are looking for a great cardio workout, that is not as stressful and boring as taking a run, then do a few laps in the pool the next time the sun is shining.

One of my fondest memories as a child was getting a slip n' slide for the backyard. Every Saturday during the summer the slip n' slide would come out and nothing but fun times would ensue.

If you have an outdoor patio area, then it never hurts to bring out some board games on a gorgeous day and play some games. Some of my personal favorites include classics like Sorry, Monopoly, and Trivial Pursuit. If you need some new board games, you can find some great classics online.

Find Artifacts in Your Home Town!

However, there is a way for kids to find something fun to do with their friends that does not involve getting into trouble with the law or drugs. This game is sort of like a scavenger hunt and will appeal to all of the aspiring Indiana Jones wannabes of the world. This game does not really have a name, but entails finding artifacts all over your home town or neighborhood. Now, these do not really have to be artifacts, but can be anything you consider old and worthy of mention as a unique item.

To play, approach it like a scavenger hunt. Have you child get a group of friends together and decide on the rules. For instance, each child must find an interesting old rock, a piece of petrified wood and some really old pop bottles or cans. The options are limitless because it depends on what you, your child and his group of friends deems to be worthy of the term artifacts. Also, your child might consider something to be an artifact that is really only a couple of years old. But to him, it is ancient.

Your child and his friends can then use their imaginations and create their very own treasure hunt and archeological expedition with just a few things. It is the best way to get your kids and their friends outside to enjoy the weather and truly be a kid. The kids get to flex their creativity and you get to rest easy knowing they are participating in a wholesome activity that helps them think strategically and quickly.

Once your child and his group of friends have gathered their artifacts, have them meet to show off their wares. You never know, one of the children may have found something that will spark off a conversation about the history of your home town, history of the United States, the history of anything.

The game of finding artifacts is also one that can be played by adults as a twist on the traditional notion of scavenger hunting. There are only so many restaurant straws and ketchup packets you can collect in these sorts of games. This gives you an opportunity to go back to your childhood and find the joy in finding "artifacts."

Not Your Grandma's Retirement Party

Do you have a friend, relative, boss or co-worker that is nearing retirement? Retiring is such a great accomplishment that is definitely worthy of a celebration. Now that the guest of honor is retired, they can really plan to go out and do all of the things they enjoy without anything holding them back. Throw them a party that will kick start this exciting part of their life!

Hobbies
When you're working full time, often it is difficult to hold very many hobbies at once. Some of you may dream of the day you can spend all of your time reading all of the books you intend to read. Many people who retire plan to do something in particular with all of their days off. Some might plan on fishing, golfing, skiing, traveling, fixing cars, sewing, gardening - the list goes on. What does your guest of honor truly enjoy doing? Using that hobby as a theme is a great way to get them geared up for this exciting time in their life. If your "retiree" enjoys fishing, the invitation Gone Fishin' is just perfect way to set the tone for their Fishing Themed Party!

Business as Usual
Is the guest of honor retiring from the corporate world? A "business" themed party is a fun way to say buh-bye to suits and ties. Hang ties around for decor and even make streamers out of them. Tell the guests the attire is "business casual" and to have some fun with it (dress pants and sneakers, suit coat tied around the waste). At some point during the party, call a "staff meeting" and give a little speech or reward to the guest of honor, congratulating on their life of contribution. The invitation Oxford Tie would be perfect for this one!

Bon Voyage
Help your guest say "Bon Voyage" to the daily grind. Throw a cruise ship themed party! Decorate with typical (ugly?) cruise ship effects, like tropical flower table cloths and maybe some plastic coconut cups containing tropical drinks and umbrellas. Have a buffet style dinner table set up with a variety of different foods. Have fun with it; pass out leis, beach towels, and cheesy looking visors - the works. If you're feeling really generous, have everyone chip in on a cruise for the guest of honor, and present this to them during the party!

When Are Cast Iron Kettles Not Kettles?

In reply to the question, "When are Cast Iron Kettles not Kettles?", Northline Express would have you believe "when they are humidifiers".

The purpose of their cast iron kettles are to give ambiance to the room, by heating water up using scents. And their kettles are not to be used for boiling water for beverages.

A unique idea, but does it work?

What would the cast iron cook expert say?

The kettles come in the sizes 5 quart, 3 quart and 2 quart. Prices at the time of the research were US39.99, US26.90 and US79.90 respectively. Some have a black finish (the most popular), whilst others can in found in silver, green, blue and apple red. There is even one kettle which is like half a kettle, split right down the middle, except for the spout. The half kettle has a full spout and is 2 quarts in size. Useful perhaps to put up against a wall.

But using the kettle as a humidifier has nothing to do with the size of your cast iron teapot!

Essences are known as "stove scents". You can choose from floral (Caroline breeze), pine (winter garland), cinnamon (spice cake) and apple pie (holiday welcome). All homely scents for sure. Prices vary from US6.45 to US8.90 per 1 fluid ounce bottle.

The idea is to add the stove scent to the water, heat the water and let the aroma spread throughout the room.

You certainly don't want to leave the kettle boiling as you would run the danger of running dry. So best operative in an area where the kettle can get warm without the danger of boiling.

It is certainly a novel idea, but using a cast iron kettle as a humidifier, is personally a matter of taste.

Needless to say it is a novel option, and some people must like it.

I just wonder what they are going to do with the cast iron grill pan!

Bouncy Castles - Safety Rules for Adults and Children

Bouncy castles are certainly a popular option for parties. Increasingly inflatables are being used not only for children's parties but adult ones as well. Perhaps it is the increasing desire of adults to hark back to the days of their childhood or simply to act like kids for an evening. No matter if you are looking for adult bouncy castles or those for minors, there are important safety considerations that should be made whenever you utilise leisure inflatables.

Fundamentally there are 8 rules to running a bouncy castle safely and whilst following them does not ensure that accidents will be completely avoided, it does mean that accidents will be less frequent.

1. When placing the bouncy castle it is important to ensure that it is around two metres from any dangerous objects such as fences of tree branches, even curbs. This is important in case the users fall off.
2. Any users should remove sharp objects from their pockets and certainly shouldn't be carrying anything like keys or pens. These could injure users and also may damage the inflatable.
3. If children are using the castle it is better to allow children of similar size use the inflatable in stages. Massive weight differences between users can make the bouncing dangerous.
4. Food and drink should never be consumed on the inflatable. Food can present a choking hazard whilst adults may want to take glasses or bottles on, which can be extremely dangerous if they break.
5. There should always be a responsible adult supervising the usage of the bouncy castle. This is especially important with adults as once parties go on it can be important to maintain control.
6. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines on the safe number of adults or children allowed on the inflatable at any one time. Too many people using it at once can lead to collision injuries.
7. Items of clothing such as coats, shoes and spectacles should be removed before usage to avoid any dangers.
8. Finally if it is an inflatable of the walled variety, users should not be allowed to climb the walls. Essentially safe bouncing should be maintained at all times.
