Recession invariably requires that you cut down on your expenditures. One of the first things to have the axe fall on them is entertainment. Spending on entertainment is easily avoidable. But this will mean boredom for your family. You will remember the proverb, "All work and no play will make Jack a dull boy." You don't want your family members to become dull and unenthusiastic. Getting deprived of entertainment completely can have several negative effects. People lose enthusiasm. Lack of enthusiasm can have a telling effect on whatever we do. It will affect the quality of performance put in by you and other employed members of your family, making you more vulnerable to face the axe in the peak of recession. One way is to go for cheaper substitutes for some of the ingredients. An innovative way will be to grow some vegetables and fruits in your kitchen garden. You can use the money saved for entertainment. 2) Allocate a budget for entertainment: Budgeting becomes important during recession and may even become the bible to follow. One way of ensuring that your family does not miss entertainment is to provide for entertainment, even if it is to be the barest minimum. Though initially, you may be inclined to cut off entertainment completely from the budget provisions, after making allocation for other expenses, you can accommodate entertainment by shifting small amounts from some of the less important items. 3) Pay more attention to sports: Watching sports is not just an entertainment but a way of energizing yourself. The good news is that many sport events are free or inexpensive. You can enroll yourself and your family members in the cheering team of the local sports team and watch many sports events free. 4) Become active in local communities: Take part in community events. These will be relatively inexpensive. By actively engaging yourself in community activities, you can also gain popularity. Best of all, this will give you a lot of satisfaction and keep you energetic and enthusiastic, traits that will be highly valuable in a period of recession.
