Organizing an outdoor function (marriage, party, get together) is a great idea. Everyone wants to be the best host, but if there are certain pitfalls whole of the function is spoiled.

If you are organizing your function in some local park, you should have permission for having so. The permission will be about organizing the function in the park, about trash removal, about lighting, about photography, about noise etc.

Think about your guests. Consider the weather and then think about the outdoor function. Proper arrangement should be done for any season. If it is summer, there should be big electrical fans, tent to provide shade, ice cold water bottles and if there is winter season, you can have proper arrangement to that particular season.
Guests must be able to hear everything. It is not that you just enjoy your function, but guests should also enjoy the function. The place should be nice and clean, and speakers must be adjusted at proper places so that every voice is audible to every guest present.

Make sure your tent will stand up to winds if there are any. The tent should be properly set, and if the function is during day time, ensure that the sun should be on the backside of the guests, and not in front of their eyes.

You should have a proper backup plan, for electricity, and if it rains. If in the mid of the function, lights, fans are off, it will create a mess. And if it rains then also, the function will be spoiled. Why take a risk? You must have a proper indoor arrangement also. In case, at the time of function, it seems that rain will occur; you can change the venue and organize the function there. No fun of waiting for rains to come and spoil your function.

Bug zappers must also be placed to ensure that guests are not offended and they don't even spend whole of their evening in swatting flies.

The function place should be well decorated. You must pay a visit to the site few weeks before so that you can check out the grass, flowers and other things. The place should look attractive.
