Easy to Learn Magic Tricks

When you are performing magic tricks, use a silk handkerchief since they slide quickly. Other magic tricks use a handkerchief that requires a harder material like linen. Below are some of the most common magical tricks that use handkerchiefs. From this you will see just how easy it is to learn magic tricks.

The Standing Handkerchief

Step 1: Make sure you use a linen handkerchief which should be ironed beforehand to make sure it is stiff. This stiffness determines how good your performance will be. Do not skip this step!

Step 2: The handkerchief is taken and spread on the table. Make it look professional and practice until you feel at ease doing it.

Step 3: You then pick the handkerchief up and raise it up in the air until it takes the shape of a small tent, again this will need to be practiced before you try it out on an audience.

Step 4: You should do a hand pass while putting the handkerchief in an upright position. Swipe your hand over the top and say something like 'abracadabra' then the handkerchief should stay in the upright position.

The Detachable Thumb Trick

Step 1: The carrot should be cut in a way that looks just like your thumb. It should be the same size as your thumb and have the same thickness.

Step 2: Partly cover your hand and parts of your thumb finger with the hanky. You will need to be quick during this magic trick as you do not want anyone guessing how it is done.

Step 3: Place the carrot in the same position as your thumb showing only the part of your thumb that has been covered with handkerchief.

Step 4: Ask someone to come up and do an inspection. The moment they hold the carrot, you should release it and act like you are surprised.

The Handkerchief That Changes Color

Step 1: You will show the audience a hanky and toss it around from side to side and right and left and up and down and it should change color along the way. (the hanky doesn't actually change color as you are holding two hankies, not one).

Step 2: As the hankie is thrown up and down, you make a point to reverse the top hankie so that the one underneath, in the bottom which has the different color, is showed and then it looks like the hankie has changed color.

Step 3: This can be a difficult thing to do because the audience will try to find out if you have several hankies in your hand. You have to have swift movement of hand and make to make sure that the hankies you are holding do not move from each other.
