Valentine's Day Gifts - Men Vs Women
There's no doubt that men and women think differently, but they also shop differently and how they perceive gifts is widely different. Women are definitely more sentimental than men, they like knowing how their partner feels about them and the occasional reiteration of feelings from a spouse or boyfriend is extremely important. Men on the other hand aren't likely to tell their wives/ girlfriends that they love them on a regular basis. They think once a year is enough; that once a year occurs mostly on Valentine's day and because of this screaming difference in how men and women feel about saying 'I love you', the day itself has varying expectations.
Valentine's Day gifts are perhaps where the biggest difference exists. Women plan an entire day when they think of a gift for their husbands/ boyfriends. Men wait until dinner time. They'll prefer to spend more money and pick something from a store that will 'work' while women will go crazy at the craft store and the grocery store to make a million Valentine's and a great breakfast, lunch and dinner.
For men
Women like to make a big deal out of Valentine's Day because they are expecting a declaration of undying love. Giving her one of those Valentine's Day gift baskets from the superstore at the end of the day is a disappointment. It's better that your gifts are small but spread through out the day or if you give her something in front of her friends or colleagues. Women want men to hold their hand in public and to be able to show affection without being embarrassed.
For women
You're right in showing affection for your man, but don't embarrass him. Sending him balloons, teddies or flowers is just stupid. It makes men feel emasculated. They prefer one on one time, so don't nag them about going to eat in an overcrowded restaurant or spending the evening watching a movie.
Women on the whole prefer simple gifts like Valentine's Day fruit baskets or fruit bouquets. Their world does not revolve around getting a blue box each year on Valentine's Day. Men like things simple too, not too loud or flashy.
