A Weekend in Prague - Tourist Hotspots

In the Czech Republic, the largest city that exists is known as Prague and it is also the capital city.

Situated by the sides of the Vltava River, it is one of the oldest cities in the entire world that have its origin that is around eleven hundred years old.

Nowadays the city of Prague attracts various tourists from all around the world to come and have a flavour of this ancient historic place. Normally, to visit entire city, a three to four day stay is enough. However, shorter trips are seen enjoyed by people in a much lesser span. People living nearer to the city love to spend a quality weekend in Prague during the summer season.

Let us have a look at some of the major sightseeing spots that Prague offers for during its weekend tour:

While stepping at Prague, you will definitely want to go the heart of the city known as the Old Town Square. While at the Old Town Square, you will find the historical monumental church known as Týn Church that have gothic spires reaching the skies. Beside it, you will see the statue of the famous philosopher cum reformer Jan Hus.

After witnessing these structures and statues, just have a look at the opposite side of the statue and you will see the Old Town Hall building which feature a unique ancient masterpiece: The Astronomical Clock. Have a look at this amazing clock structure and then slowly step forward towards the Old Town Hall building to get in and have a reach to the top of its towers. You will never regret climbing the top of this ancient tower because what you will witness from the top is a spectacular fascinating view of the entire Old Town Square and almost many a miles beyond it.

Next, go to the ancient entrance places of the Old Town: The Powder Tower. It is a historical place and is one of the prestigious monuments.. While you reach The Powder Tower, you will find a building connected to it. It is the Municipal House of Prague. You may be thinking that what's there in a municipal house for seeing, but you have to witness the building structure before making a comment. It is considered as one of the artistic gems here.

Near to the Old Town, there lies Josefov aka the Jewish Quarter. This is an old quarter of a town and lies in between the boundary areas of the Old Town.

Here, in Josefov you can visit the Old Jewish Cemetery that is said to be the oldest Jewish Cemetery in the entire of Europe. Apart from this, here lay various synagogues namely the Spanish, Klaus, Maisel, Pinkas, as well as High and Old New Synagogues.

Moreover, here you will find the 18th century Old Jewish Town Hall and also you can visit the birthplace of the notable German author Franz Kafka.
