Planning a Budget "Hentertainment" Weekend?

The bride to be is all smiles while the maid of honor has her own woes. There are wedding arrangements to be done and top of that is the hen party. How can one do all of this in a shoestring budget? There are ways and we are going to discuss just that.

First, ask the bride

Before you even start thinking of what to do, the first and foremost step would be to ask the bride what she wants. It is her day after all. With her preferences in mind, start pouring over the internet and forums. You will get real answers from real people. This is especially good if you are visiting a destination which is new to you.

Second, ask the group

Next, take your research and discuss it with your fellow hens, who will be bearing the finances. Ask them what they can afford. If your plan a weekend without their consent and the budget goes overboard, you might find people dropping out of the plan.

For collection of funds, appoint a person you can trust. Let this person be in charge of the monies and keep a list of those who have paid and those who have not. You can open a new bank account just for the hen do purpose. However, if things are last minute, just collect the money in cash.

Third, start the planning: Destination

Make it clear it local or abroad. Abroad destinations can be within budget and extravagant in experience. Booking early and you can get cheap flights and accommodations. Be realistic in your planning. A weekend can accommodate only few adventure activities and a night for pissing up. Narrow the possible destinations depending on what the girl wants and what people can afford.

If the bride to be doesn't like the water, there is no point deciding upon a sunny beach city. Hence, be realistic.

Accommodations

Instead of looking for creature comforts, look for serviced apartments in central locations or two stars hotels, which provide enough of what you need. You will hardly be spending time in your rooms; hence, it is very inane even to think of costly apartments or hotels.

Web forums are great places to look for information on accommodations. This should include free transport from the airport. If you intent to hire a car then make sure you have researched on the prices and that, you are not swindled of your money by the locals.

Budgeting the activities and drinks

You would have most probably reserved for the special activities in advance. Apart from that, you would have to pay for the drinks as and when you drink. So make sure there is one person who is sane enough to keep others from drinking too much, to pay and to drive.
