Planning a Mardi Gras Party

Mardi Gras is a great reason to throw a party. No need to be in New Orleans during that time of the year, just plan a big celebration at your house. If you are thinking about planning a party for this occasion then here are a few tips.

Some Planning Basics

Decide if it will be a costume party. Also, you'll want to decide whether or not you want a particular theme. Mardi Gras is already the main theme but you may want to put an emphasis on masquerade masks, beads, New Orleans, etc. Then pick a date close to the actual day of the celebration. Keep in mind that Fat Tuesday obviously falls during the week. So you may want to schedule your party for the weekend before. That way, hopefully, more people will be off from work and able to attend.

Ordering Supplies

Order or purchase your supplies a week or more before you will actually need them. This will prevent you from having to scramble around and find what you need at the last minute.

Sending Out Invitations

Remember to send out your invitations at least a week beforehand to give others a chance to clear their schedule. Nowadays there are a number of ways to send out invites. Snail mail is still a popular option; but, you could also email or text invitations. Also, you could create an event on Facebook and invite people that way.

3 Tips for an Inexpensive Party

Purchase your supplies wholesale.
Use free printable invitations.
Have a potluck so that the guests can share in the purchasing of food.

Hopefully using the above information will help make planning your next celebration a little easier.
