Looking for something fun to do this weekend that won't break the bank? It's the perfect time to enjoy some fall traditions and make some family memories! Let's start your Friday evening at a High School football game...the game, the band, the cheerleaders, the halftime show! Football is a great fall tradition! Wake-up Saturday and bake pumpkin bread! The aroma will fill your home and help you declare the start of fall!

Recipe - Pumpkin Bread with Cream Cheese Filling

1 egg
zest of 1 orange

1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves, ground
1/2 t. pumpkin pie spice
1 c. pumpkin
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 325
Grease 2, 8 x 4 loaf pans

In another bowl, combine 1 2/3 c. flour, 1 t. baking soda, 1/2 t. salt, 1/2 t. cinnamon, 1/2 t. cloves and 1/2 t. pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin, vegetable oil, 2 eggs and 1 1/2 c. sugar until smooth. Add the flour mixture and stir until combined.
Pour half of the batter into the loaf pans, top with the cream cheese mixture, then pour the remaining batter on top.
Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool in pans 15 minutes, then remove bread from pans to cool completely on wire racks.

If you live in a part of the country where the leaves are changing, a scenic drive and picnic would be delightful! I'm envious since leaves don't really change in Houston, Texas! Apple picking anyone...? It's a fun fall activity if you live in the right part of the country! Bring home your harvest and make an apple pie!

Roasting marshmallows in a campfire is a wonderful way to enjoy the first cool, crisp nights of fall. Why don't you enjoy a fall festival? Fall festivals abound this time of the year no matter where you live! If you haven't enjoyed any fall traditions this year...it's time to get started and make family memories!
