Choosing The Best Patio Umbrellas

Patio umbrellas can dress up any outdoor setting that you want to entertain in. These umbrellas come in so many styles, colors and sizes that just about anything you can think of you can probably find. There are features though that should be taken into account when purchasing a patio umbrella. The first would be durability of the material the canopy is made of. If your patio umbrella is going to be outdoors you want one that the canopy will hold up to the suns rays along with any other inclement weather you have. A vinyl material is going to block out more of the UV rays than a cloth material and will last longer. It also is more durable when it comes to windy days.

Another feature to look for is what the pole is made of. Many patio umbrellas come in wood and aluminum. When purchasing an umbrella with a wood pole you want to determine what the wood is. Harder woods are going to last longer such as teak or kampus. When looking at the aluminum poles take note if it is two pieces that go together or one pole with no seams. Seamless tubing will last the longest.

A third feature to look for is what type of wire the ribs are made of. You want a durable wire (oil tempered) and coated so they are rust resistant. You also want a heavy duty cable if you are purchasing an umbrella with automatic open or tilt features. Keep in mind too that if the automatic open quits are you still able to open the umbrella manually.
