Invitations

Invitations can be custom designed or store bought. You can purchase ones that are shaped like a flip flop or create your own with brads and card stock paper. I sent out free invitations to my girlfriends this summer by using Evite.com.

The invitations you send help set the tone and feel for your party. Be sure to include dress attire such as "Wear your Favorite Flip Flops." I also let the guests know that there would be prizes for the cutest sandals and the prettiest toes.

Party Supplies

Themed arty supplies are easy to find on-line or in the stores in the beginning of the summer. Consider a flag out by the front door or entrance to the pool or backyard. Use themed plates and napkins.

Decorate with flip flops by tying bright lime green ones with lime green ribbon onto the pool gate. Hang inexpensive sandals from your local dollar store from the ribs on your patio umbrella.

Serve cupcakes decorated with frosting, colored sugar and little flip flops.
Party bags can be made inexpensively with themed stickers placed on solid colored gift bags.

Games

After the guests have all arrived, give each one a single flip flop sticker. Instruct them to find the person who has the matching sticker. When they find their match, have a question for each to answer, such as tell me about your favorite vacation or what vacation plans do you have for the summer.

Have guests vote on the cutest sandals or prettiest toes. Award prizes to the person whose sandals have traveled the farthest, or perhaps the ones that have been most recently purchased.

As prizes for your games purchase little pedicure sets, nail polish or themed notepads.
