A Few Facts About Sylvanian Families Toys

From the crude wooden figures to the latest Xbox games, toys for children have travelled a long way ahead to be where it is now. Sylvanian Families toys made their entry in the industry in 1985 in Japan, being created by the company Epoch. Since then the toy series have seen many developments and has spread worldwide. While in the beginning the toys were distributed only in Japan and North America, their success in these countries made the company to be expanded to European countries and the USA as well. When Sylvanian Families reached the USA and Canada, the name was changed to Calico Critters. Today Calico Critters is one of the most popular toys in these countries.

As the name "sylvan" suggests, Sylvanian Families toys consist of a group of forest creatures like hedgehogs, bears, mice and beavers. They belong to different families like Dalmatian, chocolate Dalmatian, brown Bear, Brown rabbit, cream cat and many more. Some of the characters in the Sylvanian Families are Andromeda Petite and Angeles Bearbury who together comprise a set of cute little toys.

These small anthropomorphic animals are made of plastic covered with flocking that makes them soft and fluffy. Each figure has distinct features and story which makes gives them a character and individuality. These animals come in human clothes and attires. They don't speak but can move their heads, hands and legs.
